13 Hours in the saddle and arrived via Naude's Nek at Walkerbouts Inn at 22h00 absolutely exhausted after riding through rain and thick mud. Not anticipating anyone awake at the Inn and really expecting to sleep in a manger, I was delighted beyond measure to find the team not only awake but very much awaiting my arrival with a hot... We had a lovely meal at Walkerbouts Inn. After Xmas crackers and starters, the ladies each received a handmade soap and the men a bottle of their special herbal salt that the owner makes himself. The pub is the only hangout in this town that has been declared a national monument. Well worth a visit. The hotel (that also ran... More

After a long and wet motorbike ride into Rhodes via Naude's nek, we were greatful for the spacious and comfortable bedroom with en suit bathroom in which we could wash the mud and sand off our gear. After we grabber a beer from the Thanshjalot bar we had a warm dinner of butternut soup starter, lamb hotpot main with malva... More

You travel a good dirt road to reach the quaint and isolated hamlet of Rhodes. Time has stood still here and the same can be said about Walkerabouts Inn. What a refreshing experience to receive hospitality the is genuine and friendly...from the heart. The rooms are large, clean and from a bygone era. The Inn itself if a treasure trove... More

Walkerbouts is owned by a real character. Once you have stayed here you leave as friends. Although the house is very old it is clean and owns a feel of nostalgia. The chef of this establishment is a wonderful surprise and I can say without a doubt that I had the most amazing pizza ever right here in Rhodes. However... More

We stayed a night in their lovely cosy self-catering cottage but ate in the inn. Owners extremely helpful and courteous. Very good food: best trout we have ever tasted for supper and a delicious cooked breakfast from a talented chef. One word of caution: you can't just roam the mountain tracks and paths here as you might in Scotland, and... More

Forget Hilton, Sheraton or Holiday Inns...this is a pioneer style hotel in the unique and special township of Rhodes. Stepping in is like instantly going back 100 years and is a lovely experience. Rooms are simple, large and comfortable with good bathrooms even if they are a little tired. There is a nice dining/breakfast room and a pleasant louge area.... More

We were surprised by the service and quality of the food. The rooms of this older establishment is clean but the wooden floors tend to be very noisy. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. They prepared us the most scrumptious pizzas ever for lunch after a day out on a sight seeing trip in the nearby passes.

You can't visit the Eastern Cape without going to Walkerbouts in Rhodes! The people are warm and welcoming! They make you feel part of the long lost family that has returned home! The food is simple however very well presented and tasted amazing. You have to stop for a moment and experience what "the centre of the universe" is like... More
