Ganora was perfect for my entire family. Hiking to the cave paintings, touring JP's fossil museum, eating delectable meals, playing with the resident water mongoose, and star gazing were amongst our highlights. We can't wait to go back for sheep-shearing season. A total hidden gem in the Karoo!

If you're looking for the authentic farm experience in the Karoo, then this is the place to stay. It's about as far removed from city living as one is likely to find. This farm is situated a few kilometers from the village of Nieu Bethesda along a dirt road. It's very picturesque, especially on approach where one sees the farmhouse... More

During our 3 month travels in South Africa, my wife and I spent three weeks at Ganora Guestfarm on a Workaway assignment, exchanging part-time work for room and board. Our extended stay gave us a chance to get to know Hester and JP and their staff, in addition to experiencing the magic of days and nights in the Karoo. Listen,... More

Ganora is a wonderful guest-house... You can bottle feed lambs, learn about Boer history or just relax. Ganora is a great location to visit Nieu-bethesda and also close enough to visit Graaf Reinet and the Valley of Desolation during the day. Ganora has wifi which is needed as there is no cellphone reception and the beds were so comfortable and... More

We spent 3 nights at Ganora. The accommodation is great -well appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed the delicious meals in the communal dining room which also allows to interact with other guests if you want. We had a fascinating fossil talk and tour with JP- the history of the farm is amazing. Henry also took us for a medicinal plant... More

Ganora Farm was amazing! I stayed there for 2 weeks, along with 9 of my friends, while we built a playground for the local school in Nieu-Bethesda. Not only were the rooms spotless and comfortable, but the owners, Hester and JP, were like our family. We even started calling Hester mom toward the end of our time there. They helped... More

Two night stay at this lovely working sheep farm. The guest rooms are beautifully presented and the food was divine. Dinner is served in a lovely communal dining room with old farm tools & photos on the walls and wagon wheels for chandeliers! Breakfast is in the main house dining room - I loved the stewed fruits! Visiting ganora guest farm feels like visiting family on the farm. Dinner and breakfast was fantastic. The service is prompt and friendly. Hester and JP gave us very helpful advice on Nieu Bethesda... The actual reason for our visit. The farm is situated not more than ten minutes drive from their quaint little town. I would recommend staying in the... More
