It was great to welcome you all to the Castle, and we hope to welcome you back again soon. Why not try a Medieval candlelight banquet next time before your night of investigating? More

In the castle, we found the most perfect venue for our Murder Mystery evening. It's the most stunning building which formed an extremely atmospheric back-drop to our 1920's inspired evening. You can't fail to be impressed with this castle as it has so much history within it's walls and has been so well looked after that it mixes it's modern... More

I stayed here to split up a journey from North England to Devon. I am a YHA member and had always had my eye on this place ...! It is utterly amazing, and I have recommended this to everybody that I know. It is set in stunning countryside and is quite breathtaking when you first see it. It has all... More

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your visit. We agree that this really is an amazing venue for a YHA. For us nothing can beat that "WOW" look on the faces of adults and children alike when they realise that they will actually be sleeping in a REAL Castle! We hope to welcome you back again soon. We went for the medieval banquet at Halloween and had a great time. The room was large and "traditional" YHA in style, but you expect wooden floorboards in a castle! The stone walls, alcove and mullioned windows were all fab too The banquet was excellent fun - dressing up clothes are provided for you to borrow from for young and... More

Did a long walk with a mate and decided to see if the youth hostel was open in order to order coffee. They were and have to say the staff were very accommodating. Two blokes enter the youth hostel with dirty boots and they ushered us upstairs into the old chapel and served two fabulous cafetieres of coffee and at... More

I was in college when I stayed here with classmates! It was awesome to spend the night in a castle. It definitely isn't a 5 star hotel but its really fun and a great experience! I highly recommend this for families or young adults!

Great to hear that you enjoyed your visit to the Castle. We agree, although accommodation and facilities are basic (on the whole due to the limitations of a Grade 1 listed building), it is packed with amazing features and is a really fun place not only to visit, but to work too! Hope to welcome you back again in the... More

We wanted a short break in half term (myself and sons aged 12 and 15) and had previously stayed at the YHA in Straford upon Avon so thought we would give this a whirl. St Briavel's Castle is in a lovely spot. We didn't get chance to look round the village properly but did have an explore of the castle... More

Lovely setting in a village with church and pub. Usual YHA facilities with basic rooms but a lot of character! Staff were very friendly. Bar well stocked and breakfast good. We stayed in late October so I was expecting it to be cold in a castle but it was very warm. I was totally spooked having read online about the... More

We hope you have caught up on your sleep now. We love the Prison too and agree that it has bags of character; with graffiti dating back to the 1600s and an amazing history housing debtors. We hope to welcome you back to the Castle in the future (even if in a different bedroom!) More

Hostel in surviving parts of medieval castle. Hostel situated in centre of village overlooking Wye Valley. Parking at hostel. Staff friendly, welcoming and efficient. This building dates back to medieval times and has seen many changes to its structure over the centuries. English Heritage have some involvement with the place and parts of the building are open to the public... More
