My wife and I stopped here for lunch on the way back from Norfolk and we were not disappointed, They do a special lunch menu two for £11 so I had ham, egg & chips and my wife had wild boar sausages and mash. The quality and presentation of the food was superb and the hand cut chunky chips were... More

The front of house staff were very good The food was poor, the veg were just chunks, especially the so called roast potatoes, they were just very large boiled potatoes slighly browned in the oven. The chicken must have died of malnutrician, the pork chop was undercooked and the balls of stuffing so hard and overcooked you could not cut... More

Just had a meal for myself, my partner and 2 friends. The food served was excellent. Perfectly cooked and presented. Service was likewise. We would recommend this bar/ restaurant to anyone. The beers on offer were of an excellent quality and reasonably price. We will be back next time we are in the area.

Oh dear, was so looking forward to staying in this historical inn and all started off so good. Could not fault the welcome from the young bar-staff, offering help to carry any luggage up to the room, advice about moving the oil filled radiator into the bedroom if it was too cold in there, etc. This is a very old... Small town inns are sometimes memorable, but usually for the room and/or the ambiance. This has both, but also really first rate food. I stayed at the White Hart over the May bank holiday weekend, while searching for a long-lost friend living in Essex. I was surprised to find myself ushered into a large room overlooking the high street. Excellent... More

We stayed here over the weekend, and enjoyed our accommodation. Room was nice, spacious and clean, My only gripe was the shower within our room, the fixture bracket was broken making it awkward to shower with, other than this the accommodation was excellent and I would definitely stay here again when visiting Halstead next. Staff were very friendly and the... More

Stated here a couple of nights and overall was pleasant enough. Plus's, friendly, clean, good food, plenty of coffee, tea, sugar, milk, large comfortable bed. On main road so there are plenty of shops and a couple other pubs/restaurants to go to for a change of scene. Antiques centre within walking distance. Minus's, for £65.00 pn I would of liked... More

We stayed overnight and had an evening meal here. Very comfortable beds - lovely thick mattresses - and a spacious room with character. The meal was delicious and the menu included some really imaginative dishes. Highly recommended.

Very comfortable and friendly atmosphere throughout our stay. The room was extremely comfortable and very spacious. We only had breakfast as a meal here but that was well presented and tasty. The full menu looked fantastic and we would expect to try several dishes from this on our next visit.
