We came to stay for a weekend away from the City with the Moo dog. Shoyswell was the perfect place. We arrived late but were still met at the door by our hosts who quickly showed us to our room and oh what a lovely room! It was very clean, beautifully decorated and had direct access to the garden so... More

Hello, So pleased you enjoyed your stay at Shoyswell - I think Moo seemed to settle in quite well in spite of my little Monsters running around the place! We look forward to welcoming you all back in the future - it really is Paradise here in the Summer... Warm regards, Jolyon More

This house is absolutely beautiful! Original and inventive decoration, super comfortable, cosy but impressive at the same time. There is a roaring fire in the Lounge, a fabulous "honour bar" and the bedroom we stayed in was gorgeous. It had one of the comfiest beds I have ever experienced and a great en suite. The patio doors opened on to... More

Thank you very much for your review of Shoyswell, and we are so pleased you enjoyed your little break with us! I cannot deny that the dogs are a little bit friendly - I think they are becoming accustomed to being spoilt and petted by our lovely guests! We look forward to welcoming you to Shoyswell again in the future.... More

Cant quite understand why some people are critical of this wonderful B&B I think they must have stayed at some very special places. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, personally I loved the over the top decor, recommendations where to eat and go were spot on, breakfast was excellent, the two little dogs were smashing... Thank you very much for your kind words, and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. I think I know the critique of our property to which you are referring - basically you can't please all of the people all of the time, and some people think it's clever to be unpleasant and personal, which is why I didn't respond.... Hospitality good. Breakfast good. Sleep contentment factor reasonable. Bathroom amenities were hit and miss with several things missing or broken and it needed a decent clean. Overall an average type stay. So much clutter in the house that it's hard to feel relaxed. I know that sounds petty but as an example it was a struggle to find room on... More

Lovely flamboyant house owned by Jolyon and shared with his partner Lawrence. Beautiful and extensive garden complete with ducks and duckpond! We were made to feel very at ease, as was our dog Rosie! Jolyon recommended a pub nearby for supper, The Bell in Ticehurst; excellent country/gastro pub with log fire. Superb breakfast (at Shoyswell of course). One criticism -... More

Thank you very much for taking the time to review Shoyswell Cottage, and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. We have gone to some trouble to ensure that our bedrooms are of a very high standard and well appointed for guest needs, so are naturally disappointed that you thought there was something which let down your... Just fabulous, from the moment we arrived to when left. We only live a relatively short distance away, but a weekend away from home was just so relaxing, and Shoyswell Cottage, with Jolyon and Lawrence as hosts, is the perfect place to unwind. We're already rebooked !

Booked Shoyswell Cottage just for the night. Was very pleasantly surprise as I think pictures doesn't do justice. When we arrived, coincidentally there was another arrival. Joylon who had greeted us was pretty relax & chilled with welcoming us both at the same time. The cottage is basically home of Joylon. And, he has a very beautiful home, which he... More

My husband and I stayed at Shoyswell for just one night to attend a Christening nearby. The extremely friendly & warm welcome we received on arrival made us feel immediately at home and our room certainly surpassed our expectations. This is a truly beautiful cottage set in some magical grounds. I just wish we had had a chance to explore... More

My husband and I went to Shoyswell for 3 nights. We had the French Room. The beds are so comfortable that you do not want to get up. The bathroom is gorgeous with toiletries and fluffy towels. Thanks very much for your kind words about Shoyswell, and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. It's true that the French Room has no door between the bedroom and bathroom - we did agonise about this, but decided in the end that the flow between the two rooms with the dormer windows and the views over the vale...
