Had reason to return to East Yorkshire and needed a place to spend the night. I needed a place with a private car park, as I was driving a large van to collect some personal belongings. This pub is handily placed just off the main road through the village and the car park is easily accessed. The evening meal we... More

We stopped for Sunday lunch at the Star , they do two courses for £7.95. The food was excellent, a full Sunday dinner with a choice of meats and lots of veg and Apple Crumble and Custard and coffee to finish. It was all home made and very good value. This is a lovely pub to have a meal at,... More

We have stayed at the Star several times over the years, the current owners have given it a Greek makeover & revitalised this venue into a superb stopover for those interested in quiet East Yorkshire villages. Friendly atmosphere, great food, and a separate Greek restaurant, offering a full range of breakfasts & evening dinners. Spotless rooms with TV, separate shower... More

I picked this pub because they offered accommodation and were located on the Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Way route. Five of us were cycling and after a long day in he saddle we received a very warm welcome. The b&b rooms are in a separate building behind the pub, they were spotless clean with ensuite facilities. Secure cycle storage was available... More

stayed Sunday evening at the Star and was pleased with my choice , a comfortable room , one of five available which are set at the rear of the pub with parking in front of for want of a better word chalet. We had the room No.1 which actually was a disabled room with a wet room but was fine... More

Stayed for two nights when we were down for a wedding. The rooms are very nice and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Ate in the bar one night and teh food was very good. The bar is also very reasonably priced. Breakfast was lovely.

I stayed for 8 nights and was made to feel very welcome by the lovely couple, Lyn and Spiros. The room was clean with good facilities. Plenty of breakfast choices (both hot and cold) served from 7.30 am onwards. The evening meals were freshly home cooked, tasty and very generous portions! I had a pleasant stay and will definitely return.

As another reviewer wrote its not 5* however if all you want is a nice clean comfy room good food (lovely breakfast) and a bit of company over a beer then it ticks the boxes as the owners said its also work in progress and I wish them good luck in that.

This is by far the most unpleasant, unfriendly place we have ever had the misfortune to stay. Having booked weeks beforehand the room was not ready when we arrived late afternoon. Having filled out the registration card we were left for 25 mins just sat there like dummies - nobody said a word about what was happening. Bar staff weren't... More

It's all relative. The Star is never going to challenge the new breed of posh 'pubs with rooms' for style, but then it doesn't try (or need) to. There are numerous occasions travelling around the country, particulary if you are on your own and on business, when you would take a comfy bed, a clean room and a warm welcome... More
