We stayed for a couple of nights over the weekend. The room was newly refurbished and clean. The only problem was the shower screen which had not been fitted properly and flooded the bathroom floor. There was a function on Saturday night and there was a lot of noise but that's only to be expected at an establishment with a... More

No privacy, you can hear absolutely everything from the rooms around you (toilet/TV/shower etc). We were on the top floor and the floorboards creaked so badly that it was very noisy. Very warm with nothing to cool you down ie no fans or aircon. Only a little window and there was a party on the Saturday night in the function... More

A Glenton Coach Tour with 16 other Scots and our excellent driver Blair. The staff were first rate and the meals were very good and served most efficiently. Room 15 on the 1st floor which I occupied as a single, was very clean and comfortable and the en suite most acceptable though the temperature of the shower could vary. Unfortunately... More

We went with David Urquhart Tours to Beamish along with 37 other people. The driver, Mike, was very good - he found his way through traffic and was a mine of information. We arrived on time at the Chilton and were greeted by the very efficient Amy. The hotel first impressions were good and we were handed the key for... More

Was on a DUT and this was a fantastic hotel for the 4 nights as room was warm & comfortable & clean. The food was excellent over the stay & service was magnificent as the staff couldn't have been any better. It's very out the way but being part of the coach trip we had the chance to get wot... Nice country-side location. 10 minutes drive to Durham City. Decor as expected. Comfortable bed. Really lovely staff. We arrived very late while they were having a large party function, but the chef still cooked us a dinner of our choice. Breakfast was delicious, including their local Black Pudding!

Lovely place and lovely setting. Food fantastic .service good.staff friendly. Room not to bad .tiniest on suite ever. On but so noisy no privacy at all. Could hear people in adjacent rooms using the toilet.and the room above sounded as though they were going to come through the ceiling. This really does let the place down. People who have not... Chose this hotel as a stop over on our way to Northumberland. Pro. The staff. Very friendly and helpful The food was good pub grub at a reasonable price. Cons. There was a reception on downstairs and we could hear every word until they finished. (We were in room 14 which faces the carpark) . I would describe the room... More
