Castelmar is a largish boutique hotel well situated in old Campeche. Expect ambiance rather than comfort. All rooms are large but very simply furnished. They have good air conditioning and a TV. They have no coffee making facilities and it is not possible to order a coffee or any other beverage at any time other than breakfast. There is no... More

Staying at the Castelmar Hotel in the lovely colonial city of Campeche is one of our favourite Mexican experiences. We enjoyed it so much last year, we returned again this month. Located within the old walled city of Campeche, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you are immersed in a colonial world with much of the architecture that has altered little... More

perfect location to wander the historic district, although my room looked out on the street and got both street noise and he very active birds, that began singing at 5 am, after going to sleep to the karaoke from the restaurant across the street. The staff was incredibly helpful and the tiny pool in a hidden courtyard very pleasant hideaway!

Hotel Castelmar is beautiful, in the old city of Campeche. The rooms are centered around an open garden courtyard where breakfast is served. Very friendly, helpful and happy staff and excellent service. Love this hotel, highly recommend.

Our antique bedroom allowed us to experience living in a spacious colonial dwelling: the huge dimensions of the room, with extremely high, beamed ceilings, the balcony onto the street below, the furniture and polished floor, brought us into the past but the extreme cleanliness and comfort were very much of today. We found the two steps up into the bathroom... More

Castelmar is a gem and is likely the best value in campeche. If you really try, you might (i wish i could highlight might) find a fancier hotel, but Castelmar is the best value per dollar i have yet experienced. The location is great, only one block from Calle 59 (main drag) and three blocks from the main square. The... More

After seeing photos online I knew what to expect from the design and location of Castelmar (both excellent!), but what I was most happy with was the service. We arrived early in the day and they let us into our room around 1pm because it was ready. The staff was very attentive and gave great recommendations for places to eat.... More

The Castelmar is about five minutes walk from both the Malecon, with its huge sweep of sea, and the historic central plaza. Being so central, the rooms on the street, as other reviewers have notes, are very noisy. There may be quieter ones facing inwards. The only light to our spacious charming room were the wooden doors leading on to... More

I was so impressed with this hotel. It's been beautifully restored with great attention to detail - stunning tiles, decor and furniture with a beautiful central courtyard. Rooms are huge, with heavy old antique furniture and are beautifully presented as well as extremely clean. My room did overlook the street and as everywhere in Mexico, was noisy. With earplugs though,... More

Very nice hotel with a lot of historical character and a cute little pool to cool off in. Parking is included. Breakfast is not included, but is very good and reasonably priced. Due to its location, the rooms do get quite a lot of noise from the street. Take your ear plugs, or ask for a room without windows.
