The building itself is grand and has lots of character. Yes the paint, plaster is crumbling in places but with the high ceilings is quite charming. The location is perfect and this really could be a great hostel if the service and facilities are improved. Very rarely are there staff at the desk. There is a sweet girl sometimes there... More

Positives - Amazing Location Negatives - rude staff that laugh at your poor Spanish. Owner drank and smoked the entire time. Dirty rooms with Mosquitos and duct tape beds. No Internet, no breakfast. Tiny, dirty kitchen that consist of fridge and hot plate. Water is very expensive. Very small social area. No security. Room had no doors, not always staff... More

Stayed for one night and I chose to stay in a private room because In the dorm rooms there are massive cracks in the doors letting loads of Mosquitos in and none of the doors closed or locked so no security for baggage. My locker in the dorm was broken and I could open two others with my key. The... More

Kitchen cannot be called this way, wifi only in the lobby, staff not very kind, nor present and say breackfast starts at 8am but when you arrive its only at 8:30... No fresh drinks to buy. Only good thing i that its near the... More

If you like old colonial buildings, this is definitely one of them. If you're looking for something bright and cheerful, this is not it. The old building could really use some upkeep and deep cleaning. I stayed in a door room with six beds for 95 pesos--a real get-what-you-pay-for. One of the beds had some suspicious bed bug marks, but... More

This is a nasty little hostel. I can put up a lot but this tried my patience. Where do I start? Plaster falling on my luggage, dirty floors, hot as Hades in the room, refrigerator doesn't work, no posts or pans to cook with, staff was almost having sex in front of us in the reception area, no wifi although... This has to be the worst hostel in Mexico. Where do I start? The staff were unfriendly (no maps, no helpful hints, they just laid about using the hostel as a doss house for their mates). We didn't feel safe as they left the front door wide open with no one manning the reception until about midnight!! Our room was... More

All of the rooms in this hostel suffer from fading and peeling paint, but it still feels spacious and airy. There are two major drawbacks to La Parroquia: the dorms are extremely stuffy with useless fans blowing away aimlessly, and the breakfast is insubstantial and unpleasant. We were misinformed by the Lonely Planet guide that breakfast is served in the... More

Im not sure where to start here, there are no good points apart from the location. We stayed in a private double room. The room was called "Jesus" and was terrible in every aspect. It was dark, musty, had gaping holes in the doors (mosquito bites a plenyt !) the fan was useless which along with the plastic under-sheets made... More

If I were you I would avoid this place!! We had booked it based on the Lonely Planet recommendation, which describes it as a charming colonial mansion with amazing features... Don't know which room the reviewer in LP got, but it certainly wasn't mine! I was given a DUNGEON of a room! No windows, appalling ventilation - there was a... More
