I spend two nights in this hotel with my school travel group. We had a very nice room, a suit with ocean view. The staff is very helpful and nice, the food is excellent and the city is amazing. You can speak with the local people and visit a lot of things.

This was the most disappointing hotel of our tour - although it was adequate so I don't want to be too harsh. It is very much a tower of rooms with no atmosphere at all. Stayed here for 820 pesos each night for two nights which was cheaper than many of the better hotels like the Best Western that is adjacent to it. The location is quiet, yet ideal to explore the downtown area. Large off-street parking lot. Many rooms like ours have ocean views. The staff was very helpful with several of our problems.... More

Only stayed overnight so this review is slightly limited. The hotel is located across the (busy) road from the Gulf of Mexico and close to the central plaza. The hotel has an attractive lobby however there are parts of the hotel where its age is definitely showing. Paint missing from many surfaces, cracked tiles in the elevators and quite worn... More

Nicely situated on the promenade, no beach though. Modern businessmans type of hotel. Pricey ($80) for smallish but clean rooms with all mod. features. Breakfast serving generous.

The Baluartes looks like nothing on the outside. Located across the street from the ocean - no beach , it's a big hotel with nice rooms clean, quiet and comfortable. There is a parking lot at the back and a pool at the front. Maybe they are fixing up the place outside or maybe not !? A bit pricey too.
