Booked this as result of reading the reviews and I have to say I was disappointed. We stayed one night to attend a family wedding. Upon arrival we were presented with the bill for the nights stay and then shown to our room which was accessed via the bar and up a narrow stair case. The room was clean and... More

I contacted the Black Dog in the Afternoon Inquiring if they were serving food. I was informed that they would be 6-9pm that evening I went down there and saw a friend who proceeded to buy me a drink and we had a chat. I requested a menu and was happily handed one.. After a while, I asked if I... More

A warm welcome in a perfectly situated Inn. Becky and Ste made us feel at home. Both our hosts and the locals gave us brilliant advice on the best places to see (the locals even bought us a pint!). Very good value- we will be back for sure.

The Black Dog was a really great find in Broadmayne, Dorset, and we felt very much at home there. The room was a really good size and it was great to have the en-suite. The bed was spotless and very comfortable. We'd definitely stay again, and look forward to those great 'English Breakfasts'. Thanks again Steve and Becky for making... More

Just a brief overnighter for us but well worth a recommendation. Clean comfy room albeit right on the road (but little overnight traffic). We didn't eat here in the evening but perhaps should have done, the restaurant we chose was dire. The evening menu looked reasonable and the breakfast, our table spot-lit. by early morning sun on a bitterly cold... More

"An enjoyable pair of nights" A welcoming & friendly atmosphere with not only Steve & Becky but also with the locals. Good food & ales served in a traditional country pub. Excellent value with a more than comfortable room, full traditional breakfast & evening meal. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay and hope to see you again in the... More

An excellent country pub with wonderful food, ale and accommodation tucked nicely into the lovely village of Broadmayne. Although a little off the beaten track, the Black Dog is ideally situated for many tourist attractions in and around the Dorset coast. Particularly close are the Bovington tank Museum and Monkey World. The hosts at the Black Dog are particularly friendly,... More

We have been a number of times and had good food there. On this occasion we the meal included beef and mushroom pies. When it came it was not the pie we anticipated, chunks of beef with mushrooms in a thick gravy. The beef was thin slices of what appeared to be left overs from a Sunday roast, the mushrooms... More

Clean, comfortable, friendly, good food, good ale, good price. Convenient for the Dorset coast and countryside. What more can you ask for? Lovely bar with open wood fire - conveniengly situated just off relatively main road without suffering any untoward traffic noise.
