We were visiting my brother who lives down the road on the same lake (beautiful!). Daralyn and Don were welcoming and helpful, the house is situated on a perfect spot with great views and amenities. Breakfasts were great and Dee and Don went out of their way to accommodate our extended family of 7 for a terrific breakfast one day.... More

Spotless home, beautiful natural setting, very comfortable beds. Actually allowed us to "order" our breakfast preferences the night before, and the resultant meal was scrumptious. House overlooks a lake, and is surrounded by nature. The best part was talking with Darrelyn and Don, who I said should be dubbed Mrs. and Mr. Canada. She has a long history in the... More

Wonderful hosts made our stay truly informal and friendly with the most delicious breakfasts and comfortable rooms with luxurious bedding. Idyllic surroundings with peace and tranquility which we would love to retun to in the future.

We wanted to do something different with the kids, age 20 and 12, and we didn't want to drive very far. Don and Dee were fabulous!!!! We started with a fishing trip. This was my first time fishing and Don was a tremdous help and had an abundance of patience. My daughter and son's girlfriend just came to watch, but... More

One of the aims of this trip was to try to learn more about my husband's family, who came from this area . Thanks to Darrelyn who contacted local sources, we arrived armed with a great deal of geneological information we'd never had. We were able to locate a cemetary plot and talk with people who had a wealth of... More

My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed here for a few days while attending a wedding in the area. It was our first experience at a bed and breakfast, and our treatment was so wonderful that I can hardly wait to repeat the experience, although I don't know if anyone else will match our reception here: Don and... Donnie and Darrelyn are amazing hosts. From the minute I arrived, I felt very welcomed and at home. Donnie and Darrelyn are extremely accommodating, kind and amazing at anticipating the traveller's every need. The room was perfect (with luxurious bedding, a fridge and snacks), the view and property was absolutely captivating (I thoroughly enjoyed the boathouse and the boat ride... More

This was our first trip to Nova Scotia, with our 3 adult children. "D" and "Donnie" made us feel so welcome, with their friendly, caring manner. The rooms we had were superb, a real taste of rural NS, our room looked out at Porter's Lake-breath-taking! And the Eggs Benedict!-best I have had in a long time. We lacked nothing and... More

The pictures do not do the place justice, from the large kid friendly rooms to the elegant yet welcoming decor, Wooden Bear Lodge was a treat... More
