I was in a party of four that made the mistake of stopping here for lunch, the pub was empty when we arrived at 11.50am, we ordered 3 hot chocolates and a pot of tea, these took 30 minutes to be made, we then ordered 2 lasagne and 2 chicken and chips, we all had a long wait for the... More

Arrived Midday ish after a walk up to Pen y ghent from horton. Got drinks easily, Ordered 4 meals, had to wait almost an hr for 2 chichen & chips. Then a further 15 mins for 2 lasagna & salad. It was empty. No music, no atmosphere. Given the choice, I'd give it a miss.

We stopped for a sandwich and a beer. Although there was home cooked ham the sandwiches were of cheap white bread. There was no spread on my husbands bread, no garnish and the food was plonked on the plate. The beer and lager were not good either. The loos were very basic with tiles falling from the walls. This was a very... More

Cost of room for 2 sharing seemed fine. The mattress needed replacing and the pillows were flat and the shower had no power to it. We had cooked breakfast the 2 days we were there. The first day it was 1 cold sausage, 1 rasher of bacon, 1,fried egg, a cold mushroom and tomato and a hash brown. The second... More

I was due to stay here with a friend for a walking trip. Sadly his mum died and I had to cancel his room but despite giving them 6 days notice we were still charged for half the room cost of £70. And the place wasn't full. The room was as basic as is possible. No toileteries or bikkis or... More

This hotel/ bar/ food is, most of all, convenient. With a tv in the bar that takes dogs, the atmosphere was somewhat lacking and the food was plentiful but microwaved it seemed. Having said that, it was perfectly tasty and the portions made up for alot with our group of hungry walkers. Many of our number also recommend the local... More

We stayed in a double en-suite. Very clean and bed very comfortable with a lovely view of Pen y Ghent. Shower small but adequate. Beer was good but the food was tasteless, we went to the other pub for food the second night. The landlady was lovely, friendly and helpful. I am not vegetarian but I care about where my... More
