I stayed at the 3 Peaks Bunkhouse (round the back) for 3 nights before treating myself to a more comfortable nights sleep on my last night in Horton staying in one of their hotel rooms. The staff were friendly, receptive and attentive to all my needs. My room was spotless, and my shower was great (especially considering the one I'd... More

Local pub, meets bunk house, meets works canteen. Friendly people. Decent beer. Basic food -play safe with the gammon steak. The wifi worked -always a novelty.Bunk house very clean. Great setting. Views of Penyghent (if you have a window)

I tried for a week in May to book three nights accommodation for this July. Despite frequent phoning, there was no answer. Same thing with emails. So I booked with the Crown up the road instead. Walked passed The Golden Lion several times last week, but there was no sign of life. Tried to drop in for a lunchtime pint... More

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews of the bunkhouse, but it appears some reviewers are mixing with Golden Lions Pub dining with the lodgings. I stayed in the bunkhouse for 2 nights. The sleeping area and bathroom (showers in particular) were exceptionally clean. I've stayed in many hostels before and was pleasantly surprised. The first night I... More

We went for food the evening before doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and stayed at the campsite next door. You can walk to the foot of Pen-y-ghent so of course the location is fantastic. Positives - dog friendly, fast efficient service on a busy night and carvery style buffet means no waiting around. Negatives - the food was really pretty... More

This is not a gastro pub, nor does it pretend to be. Serving great local real ales and food aimed at value for money, this is perfect for the walkers. We ate here after completing the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge and our whole party was more than happy with the food, regardless of other reviews on here. Great service from... More

I've just returned from a trip to Horton, my base for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. We popped into the pub on Friday night for some food. The place was packed and under staffed; the drinks selection was mediocre. The decor is horrendous throughout; it's like a country pub hooked up with a working man's club from the 1970s and spawned... More

I stayed here with 7 mates to do the Yorkshire three peaks challenge. There is a very lively and friendly feel about the place. The rooms are more than adequate for what we wanted: clean, tidy and functional. Do not visit this place if you are expecting luxury, as the cost of the stay reflects. The staff were great and... A perfect base for walking in the Yorkshire Dales, particularly the three Yorkshire Peak Challenge. Myself, partner and 7 other friends stayed at the Golden Lion when we walked the Yorkshire Three Peak challenge. We arrived Friday, walked Saturday and left after breakfast on Sunday. I was a little concerned after reading some of the TA reviews, I have been... More

Sat in the pub now, it's completely heaving with people. We came in for a few beers and food. The menu was limited on a Friday and Saturday. We ordered two pints of Strongbow cider and homemade Chilli Con Carne, boiled rice, chips and side salad. It was a self serve / carvery type affair. I made my way through... More
