Second visit in 15 years! Only stopped for a lunchtime meal but I was served in a friendly manner and fairly quickly. Nice food at a good price, and the beer (Theakstons Old Peculier) was also excellent. Would definitely drop in again sometime.

Never have I come across a couple less suited to running a hotel and restaurant. The landlord was a stereotypical dour Yorkshire man. Unhelpful, sour and downright unpleasant and his wife was simply the rudest person I have ever encountered in the "hospitality" industry. You will read from other reviews that there are A4 notices everywhere telling you what you... More

Nine months later you decide to post a review, failing to mention how you apologised the next morning for your behaviour the night before, saying you were extremely tired and you should not have behaved the way you did. More

We didn't stay in the hotel but chose to eat here twice during our visit to the area. It was good! It was quite quiet so my partner and I made the choice to eat in the bar area. This was a great idea as we got chatting to the local people and the staff who were all very friendly.... More

Stayed here for two nights, had the misfortune to stay in the disabled room. Room was damp and cold, radiator not working. Everything cheap and nasty. The early continental breakfast an absolute joke. The owners appear to be cutting corners wherever they can. Signs everywhere what "NOT TO DO", overall an unpleasant experience. Sunday AM 8:30 to 9:00 breakfast, cold... More

We were sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. It seems to us you did not like being in the disabled room, we dont know why as this room is very little indifference to our other rooms, apart from being on the ground floor and having a seat in the shower room and rails to assist our disabled... Having stayed at The Crown when walking The Pennine Journey, I totally concur with Jenny N. as a single in a party of five I was charged an exorbitant £80 for a shabby, small, basic double room. there were no biscuits were provided with the tea making facilities, no TV control and no hairdryer. The male half of an extremely... More

Stayed for one night in March while walking the Pennine way. Good beer, bedroom ok - bathroom down the corridor, not sure if it was shared or not, didn't see anyone else so maybe it was just for me. Food was nice enough, hot and filling and breakfast was good. Would probably stay again if walking through.

Had a lovely stay here for 5 nights in the run up to Easter. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming, the room spotlessly clean and cosy, and food was great (specially the beetroot and cheese pie and the salmon in prawn butter). Since it snowed while I was there I was very glad there was a real fire in both... More

Just had the most fantastic walking weekend, 7 ladies in our 30's and 40's staying at The Crown - however the 'fantastic weekend' had abosolutely nothing to do with where we stayed! Good things: - location - potential - we didn't have to stay 3 nights As we checked in we informed by the lady owner that we are now... More

Waiting at the bar at just after ten to 2. It was quite busy for one member of staff to be working but she did get to everyone. However, at 2:10 after a nearly twenty minute wait to be served being told "sorry, we stop serving food at 2" isn't good enough. We were waiting from ten to 2. The... More

Stayed here with my wife and two teenage daughters for two nights and had a lovely time. Located in a ideal position for walking in the Yorkshire Dales. Pen y Ghent is accessible from here.
