The management are not bothered at all about being polite or helping you out, they just want you to buy drinks and bugger off. Not impressed, bit shabby, no WiFi and very unfriendly. Definitely not going to return.

Got there on a sunny Saturday afternoon at 2:30, myself and approx 15 other outdoor types was looking for food. Some tables had full plates of food on, but they were no longer serving food!! Come on landlord/landlady, you surely can't be serious? But no, not even offered sacks. Beer garden closed as it had rained the previous day, wow... More

Stayed here the night before my husband did the 3 peaks and wished we'd been able to stay 2 nights. Lovely place, our double room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. There was a good choice of items for breakfast - I enjoyed my scrambled eggs and bacon very much and the breakfast room is lovely. We also... More

Stayed as a party of nearly 20 doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks walk. Perfectly located by the way for this fantastic challenge. Food at this place is wonderful. The meat & potato pie with suet crust is Michelin 3* star cuisine. I had sausage & mash the first night of our stay and this was good but not sure about... More

Last year we stayed at the Golden Lion so this year thought we'ld try The Crown and were not disappointed. Comfortable rooms and excellent meat pies for hungry walkers! The owners were very friendly and helpful and we would certainly recommend the hotel to others.

We stayed at the Crown for two nights whilst doing the 3 peaks walk. The rooms were very old fashioned but clean. The Welcome pack wasn't welcoming at all it was full of unnecessary instructions telling you all the things you weren't allowed to do. The staff didn't make an effort to be friendly which was very off putting, in... More

Advert at entrance to village is grander than the actual inn which is a no frills local inn. Room came with a bathroom with a large bath (just the thing after a day's walking) but no shower. Evening meal and breakfast both satisfactory- no sophisticated cooking here. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout.

We visited the Crown Hotel on Sunday afternoon. The pub was virtually empty which speaks volumes. There were numerous notices around the pub ie don't do this and don't do that which was rather over the top. We asked if we could use the beer garden and we were told it was closed? I have never heard of a beer... More

The Beer Garden was closed for a reason . It had rained all night and that morning , we don't open it until the ground has dried up otherwise the garden becomes muddy with use and trails in. More

I visited this Band B in April 2015. It was basic but clean. There was no shower in my room only a shower. Great if you have just hiked several miles but I had just arrived by car to start my walk and would have liked a shower in the morning. We had a meal here in the evening and... More

We stayed here after attempting the 3 peaks challenge. I would say the term hotel is a bit grand for what it is, the rooms are basic no frill but have everything you need. The bar is welcoming and the staff are friendly. The food was excellent, all home made using fresh ingredients and served in a reasonable time. Given... More
