We had an amazing birthday celebration weekend with family and friends in June. At the time of booking the communication and organization was absolutely faultless. Everything ran smoothly. The cottages were heated on arrival and very clean and modern. Being mid June there was a foot of snow on the ground - spectacular! The food (evening meal and breakfast), quantity... More

Me (dad) stayed with my two girls (9 and 7). Two nights in the bunkroom during first week of school hols. Well looked after by hosts Juanita and Ross. Was a bit apprehensive about whether the girls would like their first trip away with just dad, especially in the cold middle of winter - they aren't really outdoorsy. But they... More

Four of us stayed here for one night in the New Zealand fall. It was raining pretty hard so we did not take advantage of hiking the trails, although my son-in-law did do some bouldering just up the road a short distance before the rain started. This is a great place and I would like to return one day. The... More

You can't find anything comparable to this anywhere else in the world. Scenes from Narnia were filmed here. We stayed in the backpackers lodge and it was great. Clean, warm and spacious. The lounge with open fire is straight out of a romantic movie. The walks and bike rides are to die for.

I had a brief overnight stay, an escape from being an "accompanying person" at a conference in Christchurch. My goal was to capture some great images of the rock formations around Castle Hill. I experienced great service here: friendly, knowing when to chat and when to leave me alone, good NZ country cooking (lamb, of course) and very pleasant surroundings.... More

We happened across Flock Hill Lodge driving out of Arthur's Pass after a day of climbing with no plan of where to stay that night. What a find. John made us feel very welcome and left us in the capable hands of the chef Kobus. He had just cleaned down the kitchen for the night but reopened it and offered... More

I had heard so many good reviews about this place and was really looking forward to it. On arrival I must admit I didn't feel very welcomed, there was some confusion about dinner. I had gathered that the restaurant was always open and we had the option to dine there but turns out the chef wasn't there. I was interested... More

The lodge is an easy drive from Christchurch airport (about 1.5 hours leisurely drive) through beautiful countryside. We traveled as a family of five and there was ample room in the cottage for all of us. Our room in cottage 4 overlooks the pond and it was very nice to wake up in the morning to a serene and peaceful... More

We drove all the way from Moeraki Boulders to stay here because it was magical on a previous visit and we wanted to experience it again. John and Wendy were amazing. We spent an evening fly fishing, taking photographs of the wonderful garden, wandering around the farm, feeding the horses, enjoying a cold one or two and chatting to our... More

We had the pleasure of staying in one of the two bedroom cabins with vaulted ceilings, a king bed, big bathroom, very large living room and dining and kitchen. The other bedroom was nice sized with two twin beds. The gardens are beautiful, breakfast was very nice complete with eggs and the latte's are wonderful. This is a working farm... More
