Well there are not a lot of accomodation options in Bira so i should not expect too much. Basic rooms, thin walls,a shared basic toilet / shower but at lease a fan to move some air around. And now to the food..................well when it did arrive it was good but never plan to be in a hurry. We asked and... More

My partner and I recently had a wonderful stay at the Cosmos Bungalows in Bira. From there we hired Eriq Shanty and his comfortable car for a 2 day personalised, scenic coastal and mountain journey to Rantepao. Eriq is a very good driver, speaks good English, has a great sense of humour. He went out of his way to show us the... More

Eric and his wife are super amazing. Would recommend coming here midweek to avoid makassar crowds. Rooms are great, bathrooms very basic. Breakfast included is perfect changing everyday. Good location and great food in their restaurant

The accommodation is clean, but rather basic except for the beds (they are thick and awesome). The reason you should go here is for the owners and the staff, and their food! Santi, the owner, is the most welcoming and heartwarming host you can imagine. She and her staff cook some amazing Indonesian dishes, but don't expect fastfood. As their... More

We absolutely loved our stay in Salassa. The rooms are basic, but clean and the place has a very enjoyable and relaxed vibe. Santi is perhaps the best cook we encountered in Indonesia and bira itself one of the most laidback and beautiful places. When in Bira, dont miss Salassa!

Salassa is basic and the owner Eric is careful to explain it if you talk to him for booking. It’s a no frill room with fan, no towel, low pressure shower or mandi in the toilet at the end of the corridor. It’s also clean and quiet (at least my room was). The terrace is relaxing and has a much... More

We didn't stay here; just had one dinner in our last night in Bira. Wish we had come sooner though. By far the tastiest food we had in Bira. Service was a bit variable with one waitress really on the ball and another really slow - I mean REALLY slow.

The restaurant is the heart of salassa since Santi is a talented cook and it is worth to wait even 2 hours for the delicious food she prepares. To gain 5 stars they should improve rooms and especially bathrooms. And of course rise the prices.

I was sooo lucky to get a room as Bira was booked out at the end of Ramadam. Good food, comfortable mattress, fan, balcony with hammock and the owners were very hospitable. Would go back again. Icing on the cake was the car drop off at the airport, safe driver and wonderful conversation. Well done, you win the hospitality game... More

My friend and I decided to stay in Salassa Guesthouse based on the very good reviews found on Tripadvisor. However, we were unlucky because the owner was out of town when we stayed there. I had the owner on the phone a few times before our stay but he never mentioned that he would not be there. The management of... More
