A no frills hotel, family friendly - with wholesome dinner and breakfast on offer, and sort of wheelchair friendly. Good base to explore the southern cape including Witsand, Infanta Bredadorp etc as well as wine farms in close proximity

*Important note* If coming from the George / eastern side of Malgas, please be aware you have to cross a pont to get to the hotel. The pont closes at 6pm and costs about R50 so have cash on you. Each crossing takes approximately 15min each way so be prepared for a wait if busy. 3 to 4 cars can... More

Thank you for the Review. We do want to keep to the Country Hotel theme without modernizing to much. Most of our rooms have been upgraded in the past 2 years. Regarding the Lights outside, it gets switched off when most persons leave the hotel main building, but we are looking in putting it on a timer so the lights... More

Malagas hotel is the only accommodations in the area so there's not much to choose from. I stayed in a double with ensuite washroom. Everything seems clean and neat. The waitress and kitchen staff were friendly, however concierge and management seemed unfriendly and cold to me. I was told to have my shoes on when dining when I tried to... More

We are a hotel and must have a dress code. Persons wanting to eat in the Dining room must at least be dressed in a Shirt and shoes. Because we are located on the river and is a holiday destination even a T-Shirt and sandals are acceptable. Over this period we do have casual staff that only help us out... More

Stayed overnight Rate approx R1450 per night b&b night including dinner R1900 per couple per night . The positives: the rooms have been revamped & are more spacious. The bathrooms renovations are good except we had no bath only a shower. Large beds , very comfortable. Flat screen tv.Dinner was sufficient . The staff in general were very friendly. The... More

We liked our large room with balcony (Superior Large Family Room). It was clean and had everything we needed (fridge, small safe etc.). The included dinner was also OK and there's a neat garden. The breakfast is OK (just average). It was difficult to store our luggage the morning we left to hike in the De Hoop Reserve without anything... More

We had lunch at the hotel. I assume it can be a nice place in summer - certainly has nice surroundings, don't eat there unless you have to eat. Small town hospitality is not necessarily practiced in all small towns! Must say I smiled at their explicit sign stating: No dogs, not even small dogs! Clearly many small dog owners... More

The rooms felt dirty with awful decor, and missing finesse. I found the head receptionist to be very rude and aggressive. I actually thought I'd arrived at an old age home. The food all tastes the same and very one dimensional. Would I go back, never!

Since your stay in February 2013 (2 years and 9 months ago) we have done several renovations to the rooms and hotel. Unfortunately we still do not allow dogs in the rooms especially since we had complaints from other guests about the dog you locked in your room. I am sure that reviews this old is not allowed as business... More

As a single traveler that enjoys going off the beaten track, it is always difficult to find nice clean accommodation. I stayed for 4 nights. The room was always clean and the food very good. Dinner every night was top notch in my book. All the staff were also very friendly and accommodating, especially considering that I have a food... More

A small to medium sized hotel ideal for relaxed family gatherings. Beautifully set next to a river, with sloping lawns, swimming pool and playing facilities for young children. Big newly renovated rooms with DSTV, full bathrooms and sliding doors, from room onto a veranda. Dedicated staff, doing everything in their power to be helpful. Included were a large full breakfast... More

Even though they are upgrading the rooms our stay there was lovely. The staff and service in general is great. Food was excellent. If going over the pontoon be aware of the lift if a tractor is on the pontoon already. Weather was not to great so we were not able to explore to much.
