We didn’t stay at the hotel itself, but rented a houseboat on the Breede River behind the hotel. When doing something like that, you need to bring along your calm and adventurous spirit. Our stay started out with a very nice dinner in the hotel`s restaurant. The discracefull looking showercurtain was the first bad taste in the mouth. The (white) towels looked brownish and we were told it is due to the fact that it`s being washed with riverwater!! The pillows and mattress on the bed resulted in a terrible backache. During the... “do not go! The Hotel is grubby and antiquated, the houseboats a disgrace!”

We booked on to the houseboats. We were not told of the 39k dirt road. The housebaot was disgusting!! Big stain the size of a dinner plate on the seating. Grubby and dirty. A far cry from LUXURY as stated in the add. We were therefore obliged to stay at the hotel. Sleeping on that boat was not an option.... More
