We've been fortunate enough to experience quite a few hotels and restaurants in the Caribbean over the years and I can say, without reservation, that the Bougainvillea on Union island has one of the nicest prospects of them all. The rooms are undoubtedly comfortable with good views - to the front - but the restaurant's balcony/verandah dining area is terrific.... More

We stayed one day in Union Island at this hotel. The service is real friendly and although we had a room in the back (there were no other rooms available and we had come unannounced), the room was still good. We had a look at one other room at the front which was also free, but the staff saw that... More

My wife and I spent 2 nights here in May. The rooms are very large and have wonderful verandas on the back. The only negative thing I can say is that you don't get the wi-fi signal in your room, but you need to go downstair at the restaurant. But that's not a big problem after all...

Now on our second trip to Union Island, this time we went down on the GemStar (EC$30.00 from Canouan) after being let down by the local French pilot Nicolas less than 24hr before travel as he decide to go somewhere else instead, as they say "C'est la vie". We decided to stay here after our rather disappointing stay with the... More

Bougainvilla is a great hotel located next to Clifton, Union Island's main village. Despite the few negative comments - I must say the rooms are very nicely decorated and comfortable. I've stayed several times and loved it ! The rooms have A/C which really make a difference on extra hot days and nights ! If you are coming to Union... More

Our suite overlooked a graveyard and a scrubby bit of land. The smell outside on the balcony was like sewage and there was a strong smell from the kitchens. Dirty dusty rooms with cobwebs on the bedside lamps. On the plus side lovely reception staff who went out of their way to provide an hair dryer by sending a taxi... More

We went to the restaurant for dinner. The food was really delicious. Especially the pumpkin soup and lobster pasta. Really good fruit punches. Nice decor and relaxing seating. Only letdown was the staff that seemed to lack communication skills and people skills when it came to being welcoming and service.

This is the worst hotel you can imagine. I can't believe that I paid for my room! I was there with my family in July 2012. Here are the problems: 1.)The room smelled like a toilet. They said they needed to change the toliet water (I have never heard of this before) but they never did it. You had to... More
