It's like being home. The owners are friendly and welcoming. We brought our dog and she was just as welcomed as we were! A delicious breakfast was waiting for us in the morning. You can't go wrong with this B&B.

Came up for the snow and fell in love with this place. Excellent for families. Breakfast was wonderful. David and Maxine are wonderful hosts and have opened up their home to those looking to get away from it all for a little while. We had the Cowboy Room and was just right for our family of four, two little girls.... More

Our family pulled into the Old Bear after a grueling mid-day drive across LA with our dog, three kids (including a 16-month old), and tons of xmas presents from the grandparents stuffed into our minivan.... wow, what a welcome relief to be welcomed as we pulled into the driveway by David, the super-friendly (I would actually use the word "jolly")... I love the Old Bear Bed and Breakfast! The place is adorable-- all wood, an old fashioned fireplace, giant hot tub in the middle of the forest, and all of the comforts of home. David and Maxine, the innkeepers, are fabulous-- funny, warm, and worth the trip all on their own. Added bonus-- rooms are SO reasonably priced. My boyfriend... More

My husband and I travel extensively, so we were expecting more from this B&B. We were staying in someone's house, and not a true bed and breakfast. Our room was off the family kitchen and laundry room, down a small flight of stairs. The bathroom was up a small flight of stairs, located off the laundry room. There was no... More

I recently stayed at the Old Bear with some friends for a few days, and we couldn't be happier with the experience! David and Maxine are fantastic hosts -- the food was delicious, and they were so much fun to talk to. Not only that, they were endlessly helpful to us as we planned hikes and explorations around Pine Mountain... More

My wife and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary in Pine Mountain Club at the Old Bear Bed and Breakfast. We have been very busy, in the middle of school and work, and needed a refreshing getaway. This was perfect. The hosts, Dave and Maxine, were born to run a bed and breakfast. They are friendly, accommodating, generous and fun... More

This B&B is way up in the mountains off of Highway 5 (which is flat and hot and full of oil rigs). It's in the pines. So you can go from 100 degrees to 75 degrees in 30 minutes and feel like you are in Yosemite. For us, it is a halfway point between Santa Cruz and Las Vegas. The... More

My husband and I were heading through central California and uncovered this hidden gem of a place. We had the most wonderful time at The Old Bear. It felt like we had come home for Christmas or something! A welcoming log fire, friendly dogs and the most hospitable and lovely hosts. David and Maxine deserve every success with their B&B.... More
