Antbear must surely rate as one of my most if not the most rewarding stay at a tourims lodge not only in SA but in Africa as a whole.Tucked away in a beautiful Valley not far from Giant's Castle it offers cosy accomodation, organic food, very nice and accomiating hosts and a wealth of activities, including horse riding and flying the microlight... We enjoyed our stay at the Antbear Guesthouse House very much. Nice staff, good and healthy food. Our own private house was great, plenty of wood for the fire place as it was cold. We visited Giant Castle, we really enjoyed this. The road is a bit of a challenge, potholes. Nevertheless we really enjoyed it. The owner and manager... More

We stayed as a family for one night while we checked out the rock art at Giant's Castle and Kamberg. It was the perfect location given our itinerary and I'm glad we found it. We were the only guests at meals (it was a mid-week night in winter). Graham, the manager, was friendly; he ate both meals w/ us. The... More

My wife and I had a wonderful night (away from the kids) in the luxury cave. The room was great with all the little touches like sherry, welcome bottle of sparkling wine, 'his and hers' dressing gowns etc. The view from the cave was amazing, especially watching the sun go down over the Berg. We don't get out much, so... More

My Girlfriend and I had a nice stay. Was a bit pricey. Very good for relaxing. Hiking trails are available, but the Drakensbergs are better. From here you would need to drive to a few places if you want some adventure or to look around. Giants castle and the Midlands R103 are fairly close. Gravel roads, so low cars are... More

My husband and I stayed at Antbear a couple of years ago and enjoyed our stay so much that we returned with other members of my family this year. We did enjoy our stay this time too but they are in the middle of expanding which left things feeling a little disjointed and less friendly than before plus the new... More

Antbear Lodge is a far out place smack in the middle of God's own nature. We regret we had only booked 1 night! Andrew and Connie are doing a beautiful job building a "home" for everyone in this fantastic part of the world. Also Andrew's father deserves credits for his fantastic woodwork in the central house and in the guest... More

The place is just the perfect place to stay when visiting the Drakensberg area. The owners are friendly and very helpful with tips for activities. The guest houses are lovely designed and gorgeous. Breakfast and supper are so good that you might get addicted to it. ;-)

I stopped over for a few days of hiking in the Drakensberg, and it turned out to be the perfect place. Wonderful accomodation in a beautiful setting, excellent food, a very welcoming and warm atmosphere.

The only thing I regret about my stay in Antbear Guest House is that I only got to spend one night here. My private bungalow was spacious, clean, with a great view of the valley and mountain range, loads of beautiful woodcraft details and mosaics (as well as a jacuzzi!) in my bathroom. I had a private fireplace with the... More
