As mentioned before, zaros is small town i n the center of crete. Better rent a car if you plan to travel around. Close to the town a small lake with a friendly tavern and natural reserve you can hike in, but not alot more. Closest beach about 45 min drive. The hotel staff were extremely friendly. Its a family... More

In the nicest, most quiet and authentic place on the whole island of Crete, you will find the nicest pension ran by the sweetest family who will make you feel at home. Zaros is by far the ideal place to get to know Greek hospitality, local costumes, the most delicious food and just enjoy the chill atmosphere of countryside life.... More

Wonderful welcome. The owner sat us down for tea, coffee and homemade preserves. The rooms were furnished with antiques and handmade tapestries done by the owner. Breakfast was out of this world. 15 or 20 different dishes! All homemade. Wonderful stay.

Hotel Keramos sits in the small town of Zaros and I can't imagine a better place to stay. We were amazed by the warm welcome and peaceful surroundings. Breakfast was bountiful and consisted of a delicious array of Cretan pies and other types of pastries, plus a couple of crepes - all hand made right there. You are given a... More

This is like staying in someone's home rather than a hotel. All of the rooms are decorated with rugs and wall hangings made by Mrs Katerina, the owner. They are furnished with antiques that she has rescued over the years from properties that were being demolished or renovated. Katerina is a real character; she jabbers away in Greek, despite us... It is difficult to sum up just how amazing this place is. If you want excellent accomodation, wonderful food, to feel like a guest in a Greek house with an amzingly welcoming host, then you have come to the right place. Zaros is a beautiful village. Katerina is amazingly welcoming and fantastically generous. She has family with her who can... More

Katerina is an amazing host - extremely welcoming and generous; always looking after her guests. On arrival, we were offered tea and cakes/pastries. Even though we had booked in advance, Katerina showed us round three different available rooms so we could choose our preference. She then brought us cucumber, tomatoes, olive oil and two huge watermelons from the garden -... More

My daughter and I stayed here over Easter and cannot praise it highly enough. From the first moment you are made welcome by the lovely Katerina and her family as if you are a guest in a traditional Greek household. The furnishings and decor are traditional and contribute to the unique atmosphere. Our (supposedly economy double) had two double beds,... More

We have just spent three nights experiencing Katerina's amazing hospitality. The rooms are basic but comfortable and ours was spacious. My wife was ill during our stay and Katerina was very solicitous and caring. Her breakfast is probably unique and provided an ample picnic lunch in the bag given to us. This was our third visit and we hope to return.

Read all the previous reviews and Katerina gets all the praise, and for good reason. Despite knowing only a few words of English, she welcomes you upon arrival into her dining room, sits you down by the fire, and proceeds to bring hot drinks and homemade snacks. She then shows you to your room, a simple yet clean, comfortable, quiet,... More
