First off, I don't review hotels here, only places I've eaten, but this place broke the mold and takes the cake. After a life time of travel, they all (hotels) suck in my opinion. From the noise of the elevators, to the inoperative thermostats, the bolted shut windows, 4 am garbage pickup, acrid soaps, cheappie give away toothpastes, experimental plumbing,... More

It was like finding a hidden treasure as you entered a different world on encountering the interior of this wonderful 11th century former palace, Beautiful ornate furniture and pictures and lovely courtyards. A very impressive entrance hall. Our room on the first floor overlooked the courtyard and had a Juliet balcony. Very large, comfortable bed and a good sized bathroom.... More

This hotel is way better than the pictures show! We arrived after a long, tiring and stressful journey and this was all forgotten the second we entered the hotel. There was underground parking for free and the spa was open till 10pm - fantastic as we arrived at nine and were still able to unwind in the pool, jacuzzi and... More

This hotel is a joke. I have lived in spain for 2 years now and have stayed in a number of hotels in my time. We are here now on a monday and the restaurants are closed (same every monday) and the spa is closed today and tomorrow. Mengibar itself has very little to do so we have been confined... More

We stayed two nights at this hotel and really enjoyed the whole experience. The price of the standard double room on the ground floor was extremely reasonable, yet the bathroom and bedroom were outstandingly clean, shiny and modern. The bathroom exceeded all bathrooms in other hotels where we stayed, with exceptional design. There is soft 'mood music' in the corridors,... More

Mengibar was a perfect stopover, en route from our home in the south of Spain, to the Cazorla National Park. We picked this hotel because of the reviews and, on balance, believe we made a good choice. The hotel lives up to its description and has been well renovated. We were offered a good rate by Booking.com, paying £51 for... More

I stayed there only 1 night, late arrival, but staff were very helpful. The room as spacious, nice furniture, huge bathroom and spotless. The restaurant was one thing I really enjoyed. Very good cooking, nice wines and good price for money. I would recomend the place for both couples on a roimatic trip and families. Do not forget about the... More

I did not rent a car this trip, so I was unable to stay here. We took a taxi from the downtown area (about 12 euros) to visit the castillo which is right next to the hotel. Unfortunately, the castillo was closed. Luckily the hotel had a lovely cafe where we drank some delicious hot chocolate before their dining room... More

Discovered this hotel through Tripadvisor. Can't belive we had overlooked previously as we visit family in Bailen (15min drive) and have had enough of the poor hotel quality in the region. Would recomend booking direct by phone, excellent English spoken and the room rate was more favorable than the on-line booking agent used via the hotel's website. Booking direct we... More

We stayed 1 night during semana Santa. The hotel is a large, old family home that has been converted into a hotel. Our room was lovely with Moroccan influenced touches. The room had a nice patio with beautifully detailed wood shutters. The bed was very comfy and the room was pretty quiet. There was a (loud) local celebration going on... More
