This hotel has tremendous potential. The unique building, a quiet and serene rural setting, very pleasant (though not spectacular) vistas – it should be easy to make something special of all this. But instead of thinking of how to make it special, the management seems instead to spend their time and energy thinking of how to make it ordinary –... More

This was our second stay in this beautiful Hospederia. This time we had an 'Escapada Romantica'! We were given the enormous suite with its own large balcony. Even though it was February, we were able to sit out and enjoy the sunshine as we were so sheltered. There were decorative rose petals on the bed, and cava and chocolate decorated... More

After a long days cycling we ended up in this hotel. This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. An architectonic gem. Very beautiful. The old convent and mill had been converted into a superb hotel. The old features were in total balance and harmony with the modern look. A perfect transition. The rooms were spacious... More

Hospederias de Extremadura all excel in their hospitality. Warm, friendly and sincere personnel do their upmost to make guests feel special, and they certainly succeed. This beautiful hospederia, the third we've stayed at was no exception. We had a huge suite of perhaps 900 sq.ft. complete with its own large sun terrace. Shame we were in the middle of winter... This converted convent is part of the Hospedieras of Extremadura group of restored (saved) old buildings. Alcantara is very rural indeed and we were able to switch off and enjoy 3 nights half board. The package deal was exceptional value. The hotel may appear spartan but it is in keeping with the history of the building. However the rooms were... More

We have stayed at this hospederia on a number of occasions over the past 4 (?) years, in fact, every trip to Extremedura. This facility is housed in an old nun's convent, they also operated a grain mill, that is preserved on premise. The terraza is sweet to sit on for evening drinks. We know that we cannot beat the... We never stayed in a room so large as this one. It looked like a double suite, rollerskates are in order here. Small windows but with great views on two sides on a beautiful scenery. A modern bathroom. We slept without hearing a sound at night. This historic building is very large and renovated with wonderful sense of style. Great... More

Amazing place. Modern amenities in a medieval monastery. I was alone in this grandiose place a few days before Christmas. The staff told me it was low season ... I thought it was more thanks to the Spanish harsh economic times that I got a room in this 5-star hotel for 35 euros ( $50 !). An hotel like this... More

On first arriving, the hotel building took our breath away. The hotel stands alone looking over Alcantara surrounded by fields. As we left the car, the sound of sheep bells could be heard in the distance. After being used as a convent, the building was a factory grinding different types of flour and some of the old machinery is still... More
