Our third visit - the first was exactly 5 years ago. Not sure if the same sheep were bleating quietly as we looked from our window, but it adds to the rural / tranquil setting. This time we stayed in the split-level Floribunda Suite, having previous stayed in the one-level Marron Suite. Both are luxuriously cosy, with a feeling of... More

My wife and I, along with another couple stayed at the Peat Inn for a long weekend to celebrate a 60th birthday. It was excellent. The rooms were really quiet, comfortable, and well laid out. The restaurant was superb. One evening we dined a la carte, the second we took their "taster" menu. in both cases there was a wide... More

We stayed and had dinner on 28th November - my wife's birthday. The dinner quality and service were outstanding - the best we have had for many months in other top quality restaurants - everything was perfect and the staff superb. Similarly breakfast served the next morning in our room was excellent. However we did had a problem with our... More

On checking in the staff were very friendly and the room looked good on two levels. After walking round Edinburgh all day in the mix of sun and rain we were looking forward to nice hot baths to warm through. Unfortunately there was only a big walk in shower which was terrible, the flow rate of water was abysmal. The... More

My wife, friends and I have had a glorious few days at the Peat. Wonderfully peaceful, delicious food and under the guidance of Mr & Mrs Smeddle ( the owners ) were looked after by charming, efficient and happy boys and girls. Well worth a visit if you have not been before and if you have -time for another. We'll... More

Spent the night at this hotel, not cheap but well worth the money. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu with accompanying wines for dinner i.e. 6 courses, 6 wines. The food was excellent as were the wines. Dinner took approximately 4 hours so there was time to talk between courses. The staff were superb and obviously enjoyed their... More

We just spent the last week at the Peat Inn. This was our third visit and, without a doubt, it maintained its reputation as one of the finest restaurants in Scotland with the most hospitable staff. Our stay was unfortunately marred by ill health for one of our travellers causing her to stay close to her room for two days.... More

We had a wonderful time again at the Peat Inn. The food was superbly presented, the combination of ingredients, fresh, inspired and very delicious. The staff and service were as usual wonderful and considerate. The wine recommendations were perfectly paired with our meals. We have dined at several highly rated restaurants all over the world, and the Peat Inn meets... More

My husband and I have just returned from a stay at the Peat Inn at the end of July. It was a celebration or at least it should have been. We arrived, admittedly wearing jeans and t shirts but we had been travelling, this did not seem to impress the rather snooty receptionist who looked us up and down over... More

We were given a gift of dinner and overnight bed & breakfast stay at the Peat Inn. Had a lovely 2 level room overlooking the garden -upstairs, roomy lounge with television and hifi.-downstairs very comfortable bed room with ensuite. Enjoyed our welcome sherry in our room. Our dinner was excellent and well presented with friendly staff. Breakfast was served in... More
