I stayed in Barra Mansa for 4 days with my son in the beginning of April. It was a wonderful vacation. The Rondon family - father and son - were so generous and hospitable, the staff so welcoming and efficient, that one could not ask for more. This is a secluded Fazenda on the banks of Rio Negro - an... More

The travel to the Pantanal is fascinating, but (quite) expensive. When we are staying at a hotel that charges a premium price (similar to the “all inclusive” premium resorts), we may expect a premium service and installations. We would give the Barra Mansa a 5 (grade) for the Pantanal trips and 3 for the accommodations and food. We enjoyed the... More

I have been in July with my son and my husband at this hotel. It was a very different experience. Access by car is quite difficult, it is virtually impossible without a guide. Probably because of it is possible to admire a lush nature and see an amazing amount of animals! If you need king size bed, shower with central... More

We absolutely loved our week at Barra Mansa. It was like being invited to stay with friends rather than staying in a hotel. We loved the casual environment and the relaxed style - but realise that there is a lot of work behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly. Pollianna and Daniel made us feel really welcome. Our guide... More

There are not enough stars in the Tripadvisor universe to rate this lodge. This is a truly special place ran by very very special people. Daniel is an amazing host and the rest of the team were excellent. We were so well looked after every minute of every day. Our guide was a really nice guy and very proffesional; we... More

I spent 5 days at the Barra and felt like a guest in Guilhereme home rather then a tourist. .At the Barra when you see you first Crab Eathing Fox or other birds or animals, it is very special because it is a truely wild animal. I dont think there is anything worse than going on a willd life tour... More

During my Brasil tour in 2001, I wanted to visit the Pantanal for it's known beauty and wildlife. Booking via email in English was friendly and ok (via an intern that did speak english), downside was the hotel could only be reached by plain! (during wet season since roads were flooded). Took off with a Cesna, sitting next to the... More

We've spend 4 nights at the Barra Manse lodge in November. After a long journey by car, which is a tour on itself we arrived at the stunningly located fazenda. We've enjoyed every minute at the fazenda; especially the relaxed atmosphere and offcourse the wild life! we saw otters, tapirs, lots of birds, caimans, capibaras, a turtle, etc. Incredibly thrilling... My husband and I have been living in Brazil for almost two years now and haven't been very impressed with most of our trips throughout Brazil. They just never seem to be worth the money. Barra Mansa totally changed this perception. We were worried it would be just like any other overpriced place we have visited in Brazil but we... More

My wife and I spent 4 nights here in the dry season and what a place !Location is stunning even more so when you arrive by plane ( leaving is very tough). Ok the rooms are simple but they are spotless and every evening we just collapsed at 9pm to sleep soundly till 5 am for breakfast. This ,though ,is... More
