This hotel is a bit tired, but for the money you pay and the service you get I absolutely cannot fault it. The bedding is clean, the breakfast superb. Geoff can't do enough for you, what a fabulous host. Don't expect the Dorchester and you'll be fine (and so will your credit card!)

Stayed here for two nights also for local wedding. Great location across the road from the railway station & within walking distance of 3 pubs - can recommend the Windmill for food. Ok,so its not 5 star but you're not being charged 5 star prices. The owners were very helpful, even dropping us round to the church. Fantastic breakfast in the... More

We arrived @ this hotel to attend a wedding in the area, the exterior is very drab needs a good coat of paint new windows and when you went inside the carpets need to be thrown out the are filthy, towels are going grey, the whole hotel needs a good refurbishment. The couple who run it were pleasant enough and... More

We took two rooms in the Douglas Valley for a short break. The location was ideal, less than an hour from Anfield and Old Trafford. The rooms were large, the staff very welcoming but carpets and fittings were dated, including a mattress that made my wife roll downhill. Out of the control of the hotel was also the Parbold Pong....emmenating... More

We were attending an early morning funeral and the overnight stay negated the need to get up early and travel 35 miles to the church. Arriving at the Douglas Valley we were given a warm welcome from Jeff and showed to our room, which turned out to be, more-or-less, a suite. VERY IMPRESSED by the room and facilities offered for... I stayed for a hen weekend and we found the twin room we had book was large and had everything you needed. The cooked breakfast in the morning was a bonus! I would stay again as we were made to feel really welcome.

We stayed at this hotel very recently. Booking by phone was easy, the welcome was very suitable, the room perfect for the price paid - just £49.00 including breakfast, yes £49.00! We were recommended to a selection of pubs in the village - we went to them all - and had a great breakfast, cooked by the proprietor who again... More

This hotel provided a fantastic base from which to take part in the Parbold Hill race. The service was extremely friendly and went far beyond reasonable expectations: we were able to use the dining facilities for takeaways, and even to come back to shower after the race, late in the afternoon. The cooked breakfast was excellent, fuelling us up nicely... More
