Just when I thought things couldn't get any better after our stay at Blancaneaux, we wers introduced to La Lancha. A true lake view retreat with all the same Coppola qualities - beautifully maintained grounds and rooms, amazing restaurant and service. Our trip from Belize to Guatemala was seamless - a driver from Blancaneaux took us to the border and... More

This place is paradise. Where else do you have howler and spider monkeys right in front of you???? They stay on the trees so no worries they will be sharing your magnificent porch and view of the lake on the hammock. The property has a great pool, with sun products. It has a wonderful al fresco dining room with all... More

This boutique hotel is situated at the top of beautiful lake. However, the living conditions aren't so good for the price of 230 USD per night. Small double bed isn't enough for two adults. The AC is too bright for some night relaxation.. The dinners and lunches were good and the service was excellent, with 5 times pricey than around.... More

Our family spent three nights at La Lancha in February and we would highly recommend it. For us the bumpy road to La Lancha was not surprising because we had come from the Cayo in Belize, where the majority of the roads are not paved. We did not have expectations of "first world" roads in Guatemala. The location of La... More

From the first friendly greeting by staff until the last goodbye we loved our three night stay. The setting above the lake is wonderful. Laze in the hammock and spot the varied wildlife. The food was good. The wines are all by Francis Ford Coppola, but when we stayed there was limited choice.

Lodge down a bumpy track but worth it. It's remote and right by the lake. The room is very comfortable with a terrace overlooking the lake with a table and chairs and a hammock. The restaurant is good and breakfast simple but good. Professional and friendly staff. Can't find a negative apart from when we arrived late we were asked... More

There are some downsides, such as a 30 minute bumpy ride to get in and the steepness of the lakeside site but I'd be surprised if there were better places to stay with access to Tikal. And once you realised that nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff, you could plan your days with them to fit in... More

The good: well located away from the crowds, great lake views, we had an absolutely superb guide (Antonio) for both the Yaxla and the Tikal tours that we undertook the not-so-good: bland food. massively overpriced excursions (you are compelled to use those provided by the hotel - no outside guides), food and drinks. Basic, hostel-ish rooms. Avoid the rainforest casitas... More

This was the first of two Coppola resorts we stayed at ( we moved on from there to Turtle Inn in Belize). It was really disappointing. Rooms are functional and clean but a bit like staying in a hostel - small, basic and with pokey bathrooms. The beds are also too small - equivalent to a UK double, not a... More

First the pro's, the location is unbeatable, beautifully set against a hill. Lake access, subdued clean bungalows. A quiet almost serene atmosphere, besides the loud howler monkeys with which you have to share the property. The place is truly very nicely organised, smartly decorated and very consistent visually without being opulent or tacky. The esthetics are relaxing and easy on... More
