We stayed in August 2014. Booking a day ahead, we had no idea the real treat we were in for. Our aim was to have a really good meal, and rest our heads for one night en route to the Alps. Auberge de Clochemerle did not disappoint. We liked the idea of a surprise menu, as they all are, the... More

We were looking for a gastronomic overnight and the Auberge de Clochmerle pretty much met expectations. Essentially it's based around Romain Barthe and his skilled creative cooking, particularly some intriguing combinations that work well. The menu gives prices and number of courses but doesn't list dishes, it presents potential ingredients; you'll be asked if there are any you dislike. Our... More

We stumbled upon Auberge de Clochemerle as we really wanted to stay for a few nights in the Beaujolais area in liked the sound of the menu in the restaurant. We were not disappointed by our choice. The village is just delightful and was a treat to wander through. The local cave should not be missed and despite our very... More

My wife and I are sitting over a glass of wine, 3 years after our honeymoon reminiscing about how fantastic our time was at Auberge De Clochmerle. We arrived in August of 2010 and spent 3 of our most wonderful days in this lovely establishment. Even now, we talk in amazement of how exquisite the food tasted, how excellent the... More

Vaux-en-Beaujolais is a delight - It was the setting for Clochmerle, a satirical tale about putting a public urinal in the town. All round there are little planters where you can sit, press a button and listen to a part of the book in French or English, there's a little museum about the author's life, complete with video about him,... From Lyon we travelled to Beaujolais for a friends Wedding Reception held at Le Chateau des Loges,Beaujolais. When we checked in at Auberge De Clochemerle, you could feel the cold reception which we got,no smiles nothing whatsoever. The rooms were very nice,so was the place. The breakfast was so very poor for a reputable place. We were asked to vacate our rooms by 12.00 noon,but... While the Auberge was a good location to explore the beaujolais wine region, the room itself was quite simple. If there was wifi, it didn't seem to work. Lacking on the extra amenities. The staff were helpful and friendly though. The room was just a bit on the too basic side for me.

Lovely auberge in a gorgeous village. Rooms are good if a bit basic but the real highlight is the food. We stayed here for one night on our way back to England from St Tropez. The evening meal was one of our best ever in France. We will certainly stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in October 2011 and absolutely LOVED everything about this hotel. We stayed here for a friend's wedding in nearby Le Perreon. The village is simply idyllic, exquisitely beautiful and quaint. And the hotel is equally as charming. Our room was at the back of the hotel and was beautifully decorated and... More

My wife and I stayed here on Sunday 27th May. We had previously eaten in the restaurant a couple of years ago when staying nearby and we were keen to return. I think it's best to regard it as a restaurant with rooms. The latter are comfortable although the bed in our room was quite small, the bathroom is fairly... More
