In any language, we are thoroughly thankful to Marie-Laure and Gerard, the owners of the Maison de Marquay, for an exceptional stay there. They went beyond expectations to help us get the most out of our time in the Perigord Noir, with suggestions and maps. No detail was too small for them to attend to. Further, when the Air France... Thank you Marie-Laure and Gérard for a lovely four days stay. This is a great chambre d'hôtes in the heart of the Dordogne with easy access to stunning towns, villages, and countryside. The evening food is excellent, Gérard prepared a wide selection of beautiful food, and there are plenty of breakfast options. Room was spacious, attractive and was cleaned every day.... More

Marquay is a nice and quiet little village in the heart of the Dordorgne. Maison de Marquay is a nice and quiet place to stay in the heart of Marquay. We stayed there for five days in late June and enjoyed every moment of it. The garden and pool were lovely, the food prepared by Gérard and served by Marie-Laure... More

Marquay de Maison, is a most exceptional Bed and Breakfast! It's a wonderfully renovated stone home with lush gardens, a pool, comfy outdoor garden sitting areas and parking. It's situated in Marquay, this picturesque tiny stone village with narrow cobblestone roads and stone homes and best of all, it's located in the heart of Perigord in the Dordogne Region. It's... We spent an enjoyable 10 days at Maison de Marquay and found it an ideal base from which to explore the Perigord / Dordogne. Away from the hustle and bustle of Sarlat yet within easy driving distance of a wide variety of destinations, we had no trouble finding things to do in the area for 10 days. Maison de Marquay... If you are thinking about a trip to Dordogne and would like to have a unique and delightful experience think about staying at Maison Marquay. Not exactly a hotel or a bed and breakfast but rather a fabulous 10 room place to stay close to Sarlat but away from the crowds. Our room was actually two rooms, a bedroom and... More

Maison de Marquay is absolute perfection in the Dordogne. Close to Sarlat and other major sites but a retreat from high traffic areas and overcrowded tourist villages, Marie-Laure and Gerard welcome you to a place of high standards and warmth. Large bedrooms and baths, thick robes and towels welcome you to your private quarters while the library and meticulous gardens... More

We visited la Maison de Marquay in the early October and enjoyed being the only guests in the house, which is very well organized, extremely clean and traditionally and tastefully decorated. We also had a wonderful dinner of local cuisine and wine with impeccable service by Marie-Laure. The breakfasts were no less gourmet. Gerard is not only a fabulous chef... More

Maison de Marquay was a complete delight we happened upon by sheer luck. If you are planning a trip to the area near Sarlat I recommend staying here if you delight in the finer things the French countryside has to offer; amazing food (a gourmet chef at your service), a beautiful quiet country setting (take a peek at the photos...
