This was by far the worst place my study group stayed at. My room was infested with spiders and cockroaches. My shower was disgusting. Housekeeping did not clean it the next day at all. The food they had was terrible and the kitchen closed way before it should have and couldn't make me food that I wasn't allergic to. A... More

I stayed in Ayampe for a week & visited here most days. Great wifi & lovely view from upstairs over an amazing beach. Food average, far better places to eat (fishburgers up the other end of the beach are YUM) but nice for an afternoon beer 👍

Pegged right next to the jungle, this spot is amazing for swimming, surfing, sunsets and a few other creative activities. Recommend renting a scooter in Motañita and taking the 30something minute ride through the jungle. Careful - lots of curves and distractions.

I've been traveling to Ayampe since 2007 and I have got to say, this is the first time I felt mistreated! A couple of friends and I arrive at Tortuga around 10pm. We were starving because we drove 3 hours from Guayaquil. Since we made reservations for a dinner via e-mail we were more than pleased to arrive at Tortuga,... More

I went to Tortuga with couple of friends, to spend new year 2015 and weekend. We reserved a buffe in advace but when whe arrive, Santiago, the administrator, told us he had no clue about our reservation... it was 10pm, 2 hours before new year, so we ask Santiago his advice about what he can suggest, Santiago reply: "You will... I discovered Cabanas la Tortuga almost by accident, but I had been advised by a hotel owner where I had stayed before in Puerto Lopez to check out Ayampe....the best advice ever, as Ayampe and Cabanas la Tortuga has become my beach "home away from home" (I live in Cuenca where I run my own little B&B (The OASIS Bed... JCame to ayampe on advice from a friend after needing to get away from the noise of montanita for a bit. Stayed in a clean cabin at cabanas la tortuga. It was quiet with my own hammock, well stocked bar and restaurant, good wifi, friendly staff and easy beach access. Also has a clean looking swimming pool though i did... More

We stayed at the Tortuga Cabanas recently and had a mixed impression. The facilities were well thought out and attractive overall, with some cabanas enjoying a sea view. The cabanas were clean, showers were excellent, and there were some thoughtful touches. However, we found the space restrictive, and at $40/night, somewhat overpriced. For example, in Canoa, at Hotel Bambu, a... More

Was here in 2012 and I came back 2014. I love the location and the people. It's very laid back and clean. The food is awesome and so is the drinks. From here you are so close to a couple different towns or just lay on the beach and relax!!! See you in 2016 David!!!!! :)

We had a great time at La Tortuga. Santi was a great host and helped us learn all of the secret spots in the quaint surf town of Ayompe. We stayed in one of the beach front cabanas and enjoyed lazy days in the hammock, combing the beach for unique rocks, playing in the massive waves and meeting other travelers.... More
