Stayed here for one night on our way over to the Norfolk Broads, a quaint small hotel, we were staying in the rooms on the stable block, which opened to the outside, but were not noisy. The location is fabulous, straight out of the front of the hotel and onto Rutland water, absolutely beautiful views. We ate at the restaurant... More

Arrived mid morning for wedding and overnight stay. What a great setting, right next to Rutland water. Our room had beautiful view over the water, picturesque at sunset and tranquil at all times. The room was well appointed with all amenities. Wedding was at Normanton Church a short walk along the shorebank, with reception at the hotel well organised and casual.... More

I arrived late in the afternoon and was simply blown away by the location! Normanton Church, which was the reason for my visit, was right there! Walking distance! I arrived early enough to take some photos and then settled in with a glass of wine to watch the sunset. The colours were glorious but the unexpected bonus was that that... More

My room had a great view across Rutland Water but to see it, I had to take down the broken blind. The room was dated in style and had a mustiness with damp patches in bedroom and bathroom. Bath had a lovely Jacuzzi and the loo had a heated seat. Staff were friendly and helpful. I was with a party... More

Beautiful setting overlooking Rutland water. Small friendly Hotel. Room over looking gardens, lovely bathroom, close to all amenities. Stayed Saturday night, because of a wedding. Rooms where wedding was held were beautifully decorated with steps down to garden and views of the water. Very romantic.

Good food both at dinner and breakfast and friendly staff all round. Good position beside Rutland water, which is a man made reservoir. However our room was screaming to be given a make over and was like staying in an oven. We had a fan in our room which we had on all night, but made little difference to the... More

As this hotel is in the stable block of the original hall which is no longer around, the hotel has had to make compromises but I think it has done well. The main conservatory looks out over Rutland Water and is a popular wedding venue/restaurant area. It has well cared for grounds and direct access to the path around the... More

This is a traditional building; it had all mod cons but also many older (though not "period") features. We had DB&B in a "superior" room with a lake view. On a Sunday night the room is considerably cheaper. Comfortable room, reasonably spacious. Sensible menu, food and service were fine, intelligent and helpful staff. Many people take a late Sunday lunch... More

Went to a wedding reception and stayed the night, the setting is brilliant, staff are first class, food was served hot and plenty full, breakfast you had a very good selection and it was a buffet of cold food + full English. Only one problem we stayed in the court yard in the Stretton room the walls are paper thin... More

We attended a mid week wedding at this Hotel and our comments are as follows: The location and views are sublime, a couple of minutes walk from Normanton church. The Rooms were ok but dated and tired The food we found to be very good ( lunch, dinner and breakfast The staff were a mixed bunch, ranging from super efficient... More
