My daughter bought us this for Xmas so we could go on our anniversary. We arrived on Friday afternoon to a friendly welcome. The room was situated in the old skittle alley. They have been tastefully converted and there are four. They are of ample size and a large bathroom. The shower worked well and the bath was very deep.... More

This felt more like a restaurant with rooms than a pub. We stayed on a Saturday in February and were the only people left in the bar at 9pm. The bar person was scrubbing the floor which didn't help add to the welcoming atmosphere. Wished I was somewhere a bit more lively. Felt like the staff all wanted to get... More

We arrived during the winter opening hours which was o.k. Other guests arriving outside these hours had a problem because the mobile signal is almost non existent. And they could not get a response from staff to gain entrance. Rooms were well presented and comfortable. If staying in winter be warned there is no central heating upstairs, although there are... This was a great place to stay for a winter break, in the depths of the Dorset countryside it is the quintessential village inn. Comfy and cosy with log fire, low beams and good food. If you're a vegetarian I'd steer clear as there was a lot of meat and game on the menu, I did try guinea fowl which... More

as a female solo traveller i usually dread staying in hotels and b n bs. the brace of pheasants is however always a delight.the staff in particular steph carol and phil go out of their way to make you comfortable. the rooms are beautifully refurbished and modern,i usually stay in room 5 which is beautiful.the pub itself is off the... I stayed at this pub/ hotel in the beginning of December with my partner and it was very cold outside but extremely cosy inside and we received a nice welcome from the friendly staff. The Brace of Pheasants bedroom was very warm and inviting and with a very comfy bed.The bathroom was very nice with a very deep bath and... More

we have just returned from a lovely two night stay in this traditional country pub. We stayed in the main building, although there are rooms in what used to be the skittle alley. Our room was very nicely decorated, warm & well equiped. There was constant hot water & the japenese bath & shower were both really good. We ate in... More

We bought this two night break from N Crowd what a lovely surprise fantastic room and amazing food, staff are really helpful and friendly, although it's tucked away and quite remote it's handy to quite a few of Dorset's attractions would recommend.

A most pleasant find. We had never heard of Plush even though it is in Thomas Hardy country. When we eventually found The Brace Of Pheasants -we were most warmly welcomed by 6 feet 8 inches Alec. He willingly unloaded our case from the car.(Yes I am beginning to look my age) and led us to Room 2 one of... More

Fabulous setting . Good menu luxurious room in the converted skittle alley adjacent to the main building and just a few miles from Dorchester. Staff were friendly and helpful - food was good - nicely presented. Take your walking boots and a good book - nice place to chill out away from the hustle n bustle.
