A most pleasant find. We had never heard of Plush even though it is in Thomas Hardy country. When we eventually found The Brace Of Pheasants -we were most warmly welcomed by 6 feet 8 inches Alec. He willingly unloaded our case from the car.(Yes I am beginning to look my age) and led us to Room 2 one of... More

Fabulous setting . Good menu luxurious room in the converted skittle alley adjacent to the main building and just a few miles from Dorchester. Staff were friendly and helpful - food was good - nicely presented. Take your walking boots and a good book - nice place to chill out away from the hustle n bustle.

Quality is the one word to describe this lovely pub out in the wilds. From the warm reception from the young lady on arrival to the quality of the "straight from the wood" ales, the variety and portion size of the dishes for dinner and certainly the size of the room and all its facilities. Room one, erstwhile the head... More

What a little gem of a hostelry. What a find! Such a beautiful olde worlde inn - full of charm where every effort is made to delight each guest. Our room (room 8) was beautifully warm with superb wifi and television reception. We ate in the delightful bar/restaurant each night accompanied within our midst by the crackling of a cosy... More

If you are looking for a thatched pub with great food, beer and accommodation then this ticks all the boxes. A bonus is lots of good walks. The staff are very friendly. It is in a small hamlet and a great place to stay for a rest or if you want an over night stop near the coast but want... More

The Brace of Pheasants (in a glass case in the breakfast room) is a thatched roofed pub with 8 rooms. We had room 6 over the bar, reached via a steep staircase. We are short so no problem. Very nicely decorated & furnished with a large double bed, freesat TV, free wifi & a large ensuite bathroom with the most... More

Visited the Brace of Pheasants with friends for a couple of nights. Nice rooms but noisy at night from something mechanical outside, air con unit? The place needs freshening up outside. Food OK when the chef was on but not great otherwise. Lovely area but isolated so would probably go somewhere better placed next time. Staff very friendly and accommodating.... More

Stayed here for one night with my girlfriend. Beautiful pub/restaurant/hotel in lovely quaint hamlet. The room was clean and comfortable - new carpets, bed, bathroom fittings etc., yet all in keeping with the nature of the old building. Extremely peaceful, there was nothing to prevent an excellent night's sleep. A really powerful shower, and new towels, shampoo, etc. all provided.... More
