A lovely spot by the canal with a beautiful garden. They even had Nuthatches nesting in a cherry tree and it was delightful watching them over pre-dinner drinks (overpriced). The food was very good and the chips superb. The room was very comfortable with an excellent shower. The staff were pleasant and helpful which made our stay very enjoyable.

We booked the Dundas Arms for a birthday celebration, 21 of us eating and 11 of us staying the night. The pub is very picturesque with a very pretty and large garden overlooking the river and canal. Great walks. From the moment we arrived to when we left, Emily's team were faultless. They worked so hard, everyone was friendly and... More

We came here 2 years ago and it was joyful, wonderful, everything we had been told it would be. All the staff were upbeat, friendly, willing and happy, the landlord was on-site continuously, helpful, attentive and polite and the locals were jovial and welcoming. Another visit over the past couple of nights was arranged despite some rumblings from friends that... More

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent visit to The Dundas Arms. You have seemingly visited as you are aware of a change in management of the pub, I’m only sorry you did not introduce yourself to me so we could meet in a more amiable way. I moved in last Monday and aside from allowing myself one day... More

I have been to the Dundas Arms on several occasions, the last one being a few days ago. It was a lovely day, so five of us sat outside by the canal garden side for lunch. We had the a la carte menu. The scallops starter were delicious, however it took a long time for the main course to appear.... More

I am so sorry that you experienced issues with the service you received and thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have only just taken over as Manager of The Dundas Arms, so developing the team and providing high standards of service is something we will be working on. As you have said, it is a fantastic setting... More

Couldn't wait to visit this lovely pub. We were a group of 55 who had booked early in the year to stop for breakfast en route to Portsmouth. Although there were no other customers there and they were aware of the booking they were totally unprepared. Ten of us had to sit in in a private room away from the... More

Lovely lovely picturesque location. Having not long moved to the area, we were recommended The Dundas Arms and decided to pop in on a lazy evening while the sun was still shining. The pub location provides great little walks along the canal to build up your appetite. The atmosphere is very laid back, warm, inviting, dog friendly, has a very... More

Very comfortable stay in a great quality pub. Excellent quality well presented food, quality beers and wine, big log fires, brilliant rural location on the canal/river. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, even the novices. We had a large room with a large comfortable bed facing the lock. Very popular with the locals which is always a good... More

We cycled to the pub and sat outside in the beer garden for a drink and would have liked food. Having ordered drinks which were very expensive we decided to order snacks and ice cream for the children but we were told there was a 30 minute wait and as it was 2:30 and they stopped serving at 3:00 we... Stayed for one night on a business trip. Some of the staff did not appear to be too experienced in dealing with the food in the restaurant and many of the dishes did not come as ordered. The coffee machine was broken and no decaffeinated coffee was available. The rooms were nice and clean but in the morning the shower... More

I stayed here for two nights whilst on business in Newbury. Staff are friendly and attentive, the food in the bar is of good quality and the rooms are well appointed. I had a standard room but understand that the superior rooms are great. I will stay here again if I can get a room, as I have since found... More
