Had a lovely bike ride along the canal from Newbury, stop for a bite to eat and a pint, Staff not over friendly, ordered a tuna mayo and beef sandwich which came with what I can only describe as McDonalds chips in a metal flower pot, on closer inspection found the inside of the flower pot RUSTY. Also garden furniture... More

We stayed as part of a canal boat holiday and were really impressed with the high level of service we received and the luxuriousness of the room. We had been on the coat all day and it was cold and windy so were pleased as punch when we were led to a huge room with a bath! The room was... More

What a treat, great location, river one side, canal the other and a stones throw fro the railway station, perfect for London or Readingites looking for a weekend escape. Delightful room with our own entrance and riverside sit out. Comfy bed, lovely quality sheets and decor, just great. Add a really good new team and a truly first class breakfast.... More

Had a one night stay as a stopover driving from the north to the south coast. The weather was gorgeous so we greatly enjoyed having a room that opened onto the river. Our room was lovely, beautifully decorated and furnished. We enjoyed a couple of drinks by the canal before having a meal. As a non-cheese eating vegetarian, I was... More

A lovely evening out with a big group of local friends...we were the only customers sitting in the garden. At 10.50 two of us bought 2 bottles of wine at which point we were informed "this is last orders". At 11.10 we were told "ok it's time to leave". no.."please come inside to finish your drinks" or "please finish up... More

This is a Pub with Rooms. It is not managed like a hotel. The rooms are comfortable and spacious but you may not have a plug in the basin, soap or shampoo or a hair dryer. The toilet seat may be broken, the ashtray on the veranda full up with several weeks of fag ends and areas of the room... More

Spent a couple of days at this pub. On arrival they could not find our booking. Sorted this out and taken to our room which was adequate. Now to the worst part, the food. On the first evening we ordered our meals. These did not come as ordered although we had confirmed what we wanted twice with the staff.. The steaks... More

Visited a few years ago, place looks really nice now it has been renovated. Staff not overly friendly but lovely location. I ordered a mozzarella salad. When it arrived my husband thought I had ordered a starter, few pieces of mozzarella and a few tomatoes with a teaspoon of pest. Had done a 25 mile bike ride so was very... More

We (a party of 6) fly fish near the hotel and have had breakfast at the Dundas Arms for the last 5 years. The pub has been refurbished from the mess that it was previously but the service and staff have not improved. Last year we were greeted with "oh, you lot must the walk-ins" and this year were served... More
