Have just spent 2 months voluntary work at Bua River Lodge and how priviliged i feel with a stunning location over the Bua River. The wooden lodge is cleverly designed to be open, giving the sense of truelly being amongst nature. The atmosphere is relaxing and unpretentious. Peaceful and serene - an amazing place to unwind, read a book, watch... More

A superb lodge. John has done a great job, excellently supported by his Malawian team. The lack of big game isn't a problem. Beautiful walks and serenity. The accommodation and food are top notch. Juma is a brilliant guide.

We initially had planned to stay on their campsite, but changed plans when seeing the campsite (looks more like a parking space in between the main building and some tents), the island tents immediately had 'it' for us : we stayed for 2 nights on island B, a remote tent, complete privacy, a deck in front of the tent and... I stayed here with my fiancee and family and we had a wonderful time. The food and service were superb and the setting is magical. The owner also saved us from car disaster when our battery went flat which was amazing! The island rooms are very private and real luxury standard and hot water was readily available.

A peaceful secluded retreat amongst the trees in a really beautiful setting with wonderful staff and great food. The island rooms are really romantic, while the hillside rooms offer great value for money, with the same fantastic service.
