... were the welcoming words when I pulled up in the dark after the 2+ hour drive from Puerto Vallarta via Fernando's shuttle service. Perhaps my research was better than other reviewers, but my expectation of El Rinconcito was to have few or no expectations and that the place had a 'funky vibe' -- great! I prefer to stay in... I agree with the previous poster. Although Mayto is a beauty, El Rinconcito is not. It would be great if the owners would cater to patrons with better standards. The meals are skimpy and for the most part, not traditional as one would expect. Honestly, I was not thrilled with scrambled eggs with beans and a couple tortillas. And neither... More

I had researched el rinconcito thoroughly prior to booking a 4 night stay with my husband, but was quite disappointed with our stay there. Mind you, Mayto itself is a marvelous beauty but El Rinconcito in my opinion is NOT well managed for guests and lacks basic tourist standards. Here is my experience. We were paying $350 pesos per person/night... More

A very rustic, cool place to stay in remote Mexico. If you like getting off the path, surf fishing and remote beaches this is the place for you. My biggest problem was that I did not stay long enough, maybe next time! You will become part of an ever changing family as guests come and go, and still there are... More

Fernando and Marcella of Hotel El Rinconcito know how to bring people into their home, make them a part of their family, and provide the most wonderful care. For a small, family run establishment in the middle of nowhere, you could not find a more welcoming place. The first time we met the family, we were staying at the Mayto... More

El Reconcito is exactly what a backpackers' hotel should be. The owners are extremely friendly, and create a convivial and informal atmosphere. Dinner is family style: you get what they're serving, and you're welcome to have a second serving. The little store is well-stocked, but for the most part you just help yourself and pay when convenient. Most nights, the... More

We live for 6 months per year at nearby El Tuito and make many trips to Mayto. We love to stay at Hotel El Rinconcito. The atmosphere is warm & welcoming; we never know who we will meet when staying there---fisherman from NJ or local friends. Fernando & Maricela are excellent hosts that will prepare food for a party or... More

We went there for our wedding "Playa del amor!" Met family and lifelong friends. Will always be our home. Where a handshake means something over the phone and the smiles will melt your heart.

In Janruary 2011 my wife and I spent two weeks in Mexico including 6 awesome days in the Mayto beach/Tehuamixle area. Our days spent in this beautful, peaceful, serene part of Mexico was the highlight of the whole trip for me. When I go traveling, I love to spend a good portion of my time in total rest and relaxtion,... More
