After a great morning exploring Uxmal, we stopped at the Pickled Onion for a delicious lunch at the recommendation of our new friend and driver. He is friends with owner Valorie. We enjoyed every part of our stay at this B&B. The owner is very caring for her guests; we start each day with a breakfast (included) of many fruits, toast, fresh baked sweet bread, coffee and juice. The fruit platter is individual and plentiful. The property itself is beautiful. And the staff, from kitchen, to servers to grounds people, are... More

Warm, cosy, protected, friendly... It's the experience of being in a luxurious dry jungle setting, but sleeping in a " Modern Traditional Mayan Cabana " with full comfort. More than that, it's the care, the professionalism of a staff who works in a more international standard of reception instead of the Mexican way which can be hectic and intrusive. Lots... More

You will feel very welcome to stay in this wonderful shangri-la created with much love by Valerie, who truly cares about the welfare and comfort of her guests. The palapas are very sweet, the surrounding gardens and pool are beautiful, and the restaurant is superb. All of the amazing Ruta Puuc sites are nearby. I highly recommend the Pickled Onion.

We stayed here 2 nights while visiting the ruins in the area. This is a great place to stay and eat. It is conveniently located, comfortable bungalows, refreshing pool and beautiful gardens. Valerie is very nice to chat with and the staff is very accommodating. I highly recommend staying here.

I am a motel owner and therefore consider myself an authority on lodging reviews. I understand what it takes to make guests comfortable. So does Valerie! The hard work that this woman has put into her property clearly shows. Small yet very cute and comfortable cabanas, each with a private bath, surround a small swimming pool. We stayed there 2 nights on our way from Merida to Campeche. Great basis for visiting Uxmal and the Puuc route (and there is much more to visit as we discovered by reading through the extensive and carefully compiled guidebook provided by Valerie for her guests). The site has only few bungalows, thus making this place very private. Bungalows are... More
