B&B in a lovely location overlooking Lochindaal - brilliant for scenery and wildlife - there was a corncrake in the field behind the house. Although the B&B doesn't have any covered accommodation for bikes they can be stored along the side of the house. The owner dried our wet jackets and clothes, lit the fire and offered us a dram... Lovely stay here over Easter. Easy to find and great location for exploring the rest of Islay. Bedroom at the front had a great and peaceful view over Lochindaal, and the whole B&B was beautifuly heated and toasty on a cold day. The visitor's lounge is very welcoming, and breakfast is just right - especially delicious sausages! Hosts are great,... More

Having stayed at The Anchorage the owners, John and Anne, are really friendly and accept dogs (well behaved!). Down to earth, friendly, clean, great breakfasts and the cost per night is reasonable. Parking is easy opposite with views across the Loch. Thank you both for making us welcome - we will be back.

John and Anne and their two Westies, Ivy and Phoebe, made us feel completely at home. The location of the Anchorage couldn't be better. Directly across the road from the shores of Loch Indaal, steps away from the Bruichladdich distillery and an easy drive to a number of great island restaurants mean you are never far from good food, good... We stayed at the Anchorage B&B for three nights while exploring Islay. The B&B is well located, close to excellent local restaurants and distilleries. The rooms are spacious, warm and very clean, with beautiful views over Lochindaal. The bathroom was also clean and spacious, although a little more oomph from the shower would have been good!! Every morning we enjoyed... More

Bookended a camping holiday with B&B stays here. Even before we arrived we benefited from John's local knowledge. A warm welcome from both him and Ann, relaxed, informal and child friendly. Clean and homely rooms, lovely breakfast courtesy of our hosts and Eggwina, Henrietta and the girls, perfect setting from which to explore the island, in particular the Bruichladdich distillery.... Stayed at The Anchorage for two nights. Very clean and tidy and breakfast was brilliant. John and Anne so lovely and very helpful they possibly couldn't do any more for us. Very reasonably priced. Was a very pleasant experience. Would recommend to anyone.
