It's just a few steps to the right - the 1905 Denman farm house was recycled into a hostel type guest house 40 years ago. It reminded me of the 1970's farm hostels all over New Zealand complete with hot sulphur smell in the shower. It is a eclectic mix of accommodation some ramshackle some not. A tour with a... More

I visited Sheldon and Donna briefly for one night in September of 2012. I absolutely fell in love with the property, the house and the small restaurant that they run. The coffee is all freshly roasted on site, the food is all "from scratch" made by Donna (exquisite deserts and super healthy fare). The Bistro features vintage pieces making up... More

Like others have said - what you get out of it depends on who you are. I'll mention the 'bad' bits now so that I can type uninterrupted of how great it was later. The water is heated by brimstone so it smells like sulpher. The whole house is very rustic and earthy (dusty, spidery and old). The rooms are... More

Like many small towns (or islands), Denman is no different. Awesome food, eclectic and lovely people and a safe warm feeling. That's exactly what I experienced staying here. I stayed mid week and ended up having a room to myself. The bed was good, lots of blankets for a chilly winter night. This is really an upscale hostel type of... More

Traveled with husband and infant. Definitely met our basic needs for a night on Denman (and good for the pocketbook) but leaves a lot to be desired with respect to details. Our room could have really used a screen to keep out the wasps. And traveling with a baby we sure would have appreciated window coverings that blocked a bit... More

This is a good place to stay if you are watching your pennies and don't mind doing without some luxuries. The old farmhouse is funky and full of antiques and the atmosphere is very laid back. The rooms are very minimal and a little lacking in comfort and privacy but if you don't mind sharing a bathroom this might be... More

I wasn't really sure what to expect when heading to Denman island, but when i got there i realized it was a whole other world. This is a place where people actually live on "island time". Denman is a gem of the gulf islands with 2 beautiful lakes to go swimming and a huge rope swing if your brave enough.... More

What you get out of this place depends on your expectations. Denman island is a great chilled out place with some lovely places to visit. The guesthouse is an old farmhouse that has an olde worlde feel, and the living room looks as though nothing has changed for at least 50 years, which gives it a real charm. It is... More

I've been on Denman for a month, wwoofing. The island is to experience, especially if you are not from BC, you will find an easy going / open mind atmosphere, which is not to easy to find. The guest house is a charming country big house, large rooms and very important (if you're travel and you're allways looking for tips... More

Welcome to the Denman Guesthouse at the earthclubfactory. We operate a guesthouse that is run in the spirit of a hostel. This 100 year property has had a complete redevelopment sewer, septic, roof, foundation, electrical. The water is filtered 2ce and runs throw a UV system and is tested monthly for the Bistro. It has some odour, typical of this area, but blame mother earth. We have slowly been fixing the fundamentals but it remains in the character it was 100 tears ago. The Earth Club Factory guiding principles are biodegradable, sustainable appropriate technology , organics. To a certain degree we incorporate this into our business, and always strive to do more. The Bistro is a great place to enjoy our home roasted coffee, yes done on 2 special BBQS.
