As other reviews have said, the best thing about this amazing place is the owner. He is extremely friendly and helpful, and prepares a great breakfast for everyone each morning. He gave us recommendations of places to eat dinner and walks we could take around the local countryside. The room itself was simple and clean. We were in the room... More

We were very happy w/ this inn b/c of the sweetness & kindness of Elio and the amazing breakfasts; nothing was too much trouble for him. He made us feel very comfortable. I am big on afternoon tea and he showed me where the teabags, teapots, creamers, cream, trays, etc were and every afternoon i would make a tray of... More

I spend two days in this beautyfull small hotel in the begin of November. Hotel is situated on the Ulignano's border, in front of a wonderfull countryside and landscape just on the road to San Giminiano. Hotel is family managed; the ownwer is a lovely person who help you for every things you need and give you usefull tips on... More

This small bed and breakfast was selected because it was close to San Gimignano and accessible to many of the hill towns and we were very happy (enthusiastically) with our choice. We were two parents with an adult daughter sharing a large room with good sized bath. Our room was in the front, so there was some road noise as... More

Staying at Hotel Vecchio Asilo which is run by Elio and Stephania was one of the highlights of our trip. They are fantastic hosts and make you feel like nothing is too much trouble. The view from our room was fantastic and the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast room is cosy and comfortable and the food was... More

I wish we had hotels like this for our whole trip in Italy. The hotel isn't glamorous or huge (1 star) but it is perfect for what you need and for the price far better value for money than other places we stayed at. The rooms are large and had all the necessary amenities - ask fir room with view... More

Though I share the concerns of reviewers who have pointed out valid shortcomings: proximity to the roadway (hard by a switchback & blind sight line hill top, which presents safety issues, for parking, as well as noise issues); lack of public areas, other than the breakfast area - and would add a nitpick that, in our case, we had difficulty... The owner of this property, Elio, was so gracious and friendly we hated to stay just one day. It is located so that you can visit many places and even take the 45 min train to Florence. I would call this a basic hotel for short stays and would book again. A few items to consider. No A/C, and street... More

We just returned from vacation in Italy and the highlight was our stay at this hotel for 7 nights. Elio makes you feel at home right away. Our room was large by Italian standards and decorated in such a Tuscan way. You really felt like you were staying in wine country. The view from our room was just beautiful overlooking... More

We spent in Veccio Assilo 10 unforgettable days this July together with my wife and 13 years old daughter. While planning our summer vacations in Tuscany it took me not more than 10 minutes to decide on this hotel based on the impressive number of positive feedback here in the tripadvisor. The reality was even more pleasant than we expected.... More
