I wrote a review a few years ago when this was a really badly run pub with appalling food. I heard that it had changed hands once again and decided to give it another try. I am so pleased I did. We visited on a Sunday lunch time and the first thing I noticed was that it was buzzing with... More

My girlfriend and I recently visited this establishment for her birthday meal we had heard some really good reports so decided to check it out. We had a fantastic meal and would recommend this place to eat especially for the price!! Excellent value for money Thank you to the new owners and chefs for the meal see you again soon!

We went here for lunch very much as a last resort as three pubs in the area were all closed for various reasons. Unfortunately its previously poor reputation did not encourage us to expect much. What a pleasant surprise! The landlord was friendly and efficient and our hopes for lunch were raised. Our meals were served promptly, one gammon steak... More

We have lived in the village for 20+ years and seen our local pub go thro many ups and downs. More recently, under new management the pub has slowly been returning to its former glory. Last weekend we decided it was time to try out their menu. It was a very busy night with an 18th birthday party, large crowd... More

Since Chris and Shelly have taken over the George Inn in Chardstock the pub has become once more the centre of the village activities, being warm and friendly, with excellent food and drinks. It holds regular quiz nights, coffee mornings, and workshops. Carol singing was held around the christmas tree, with Santa Claus, and they were open for a drink... More

Carols around the Christmas tree, a visit from Father Christmas, hand bell choir, a range of local ales and ciders, good pub grub, great company, a lovely and magical atmosphere. Everything that a village pub should be - long may it continue. It's great to see a lovely old pub flourishing again! Well done to the West family.

Four of us frequented The George Inn today for Sunday lunch and it was very tasty. Beef and Lamb options were delicious (new owners might want to consider a white meat option to be safer also). The veggies were all very tasty! Gravy very nice too...which many places often make a hash of. Friendly staff - these guys have only... More

At last we have our village pub back. A warm and friendly welcome. The pub is now clean and warm serving traditional pub fayre and a Sunday lunch well worth trying. Give it a go you won't be disappointed. Very reasonable on price. Child and dog friendly. A family run pub,

Warm, welcoming and lovely pub food at good prices. Great range of local beers plus all the usuals. This 4th Century, thatched building in the middle of a picturesque Devon village is well worth a visit. Just sit there and listen to the locals with their Devonan drawl to add that little extra bit of authenticity. What a transformation.

Authentic English country pub which has recently started serving food. The menu was a little limited with only beef or pork on offer. We all had beef, which was superb. Three choices of sweet, which again were very good. No starters on offer. There was quite a long delay between the first three meals being served and the final three,... More
