I've eaten at this pub a number of times (sometimes with family from up country and they loved it) and everytime the food has been better than average, tasty, fresh with a good selection of pub grub. The staff are friendly, welcoming and accommodating (if you want different side dishes with a meal they'll alter it). I disagree with a... More

This is a lovely old pub the interior of which is rather spoiled by twinkling red fairy lights,in August! The food, unfortunately, was the worst I have eaten for years.Forboding set in on seeing the length of the menu, which was enormous. Nothing could have been as fresh as they claimed and my lasagne certainly tasted as if it had... More

Having read some of these reviews I cant believe we are talking about the same place. The food was great, service excellent and reasonably priced. One of the nicest pubs I have been to. And I have been in one or two.

The village and the pub are great and the food- ten to twenty years ago was marvellous- but now it is dire .... tasteless, expensive and frankly pretentious. Staff are pleasant.......... but the landlord has the unpleasant habit of stopping people from parking on the Rattery car park by the church for funerals of villagers.... huh! Money comes before mourning... More

All 9 of us enjoyed a delicious meal with huge portions and a large choice of food. Without exception, all meals were very tasty and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Service was a ittle slow as the restaurant was so busy but it did not cause us a problem.

Nothing special at all. Does not match up to its own publicity or smug self confidence. As others have said, there is too much on the menu. less would (I hope) be better.

We stayed at this small Hotel on Dartmoor over New Year, The patrons Jan and her daughter Jane, together with Janes husband Paul are so friendly and welcoming, you cant fail to be impressed. The rooms are a little tired but the Restaurant is absolutely fabulous, I really hope they never loose their Chef. Highly recommended.
