twowheeltours has stayed at Grand Hotel De France since 2012 - we have used the hotels for many private cycling tours and also during the Haute Route Pyrenees cyclosportif. The rooms are grand, high ceilings and majestical, they have very comfortable beds, clean, the staff is great (speaking English and French). There is a substantial cold breakfast in the mornings... They promote an apartment for 6 adults but it is so little, only 1 bedroom + 1 living room that can feet only 4 person at the most. There are only 4 knifes, 4 forks etc' in the kitchen. Only 4 chairs at the small table... The apartment is on the 3rd floor without elevator!!! and the stairs are dangerous.... More

We stayed one night as part of a Pyrenees walking holiday. The décor is outstanding, both the rooms and the common areas. But our arrival seemed to be unexpected and at first we were given a room which was still being decorated. We were on half board, so the fixed menu was fine and well cooked, but another party decided... More

This is the second time we've booked the entire hotel for Spyns Tour de France tours in the Pyrenees. Starting with the positivies, the hotel has made great strides over the past two years as far as staffing is concerned. The capable new manager, Françoise, and her staff were warm, welcoming, and extremely hard-working. I have rarely stayed in a... More

We stayed here overnight whilst visiting family in the area. The hotel building was interesting and well furnished. We booked a large room which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, though it didn't have everything that was advertised on booking. e.g. balcony, bathrobe, minibar. Well technically there was a minibar but it was empty! There was no water or tea/coffee... More

A nice enough hotel, but there only appeared to be two relatively inexperienced staff on duty over our two night stay. We we pre-booked for half-board as part of our Pyrenean walking holiday. On checking in we were told the restaurant was closed but we could eat in town. Cue hasty call to the Rep to clear this up. As... More

This is a belle époque hotel which must have been wonderful in the railway era, but with the railway closed it seemed to be struggling. There were only about six guests in a rather large hotel, and it had the air of past glories. I booked a suite (which turned out to be a large bedroom). It was very clean,... More

An old fashioned hotel but we enjoyed our stay. Ideal location for us as I rode the Tourmalet the following day. The room was a little on the small side but had everything we needed for our 1 night stay. We ate in the hotel restaurant in the evening where we had the biggest magret de canard I've ever seen.... A little out of fashion, in a locality where there are virtually nothing. A little ugly, a small room and a bathroom with a tiny but excellent shower (which my husband particularly appreciated because it is something that is very tuned). But a price to match - 55 euros, which for France is very cheap. The breakfast was aside, 8e... More

Poor location, poor service from hotel staff, waited 40 minutes for Sunday lunch to be completely ignored by staff so in the end we just got up and left, tried to get a Brandy at the bar one evening the young girl who served us could not even open the bottle...our room was not serviced 2 nights out of 6,...
