This is not the cheapest place to stay and you have to eat at their restaurant due to the location but overall I would say this was a very good experience. The rooms are of a good motel standard. Excellent buffet breakfast but the main reason to come here is the resident Tamar wallabies. They are so tame that they... More

Spent 3 nights at this great resort - self contained apartment, terrific restaurant and close to beautiful scenic views. Nearby plenty of wildlife - koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, goannas, and birds.

We were lucky enough to have dinner at the Retreat on our recent visit to Kangaroo Island and it was indeed a special experience. The menu has a sensible number of dishes and a no substitutions policy which deserves respect. I had the seafood medley and my partner had the vegetarian curry. I suppose I have become cynical as I... More

We didn't stay here, but only stopped over for lunch. If you're not really hungry they serve chicken with salad or for the hungry ones calamari with chips and salad. The both were very good. The surrounding area looked wild and maybe next time I would stay here

Overall I was disappointed in my stay at KI Wilderness Retreat. The hotel is looking shabby and worn and overall not worth the price paid. We booked a room with a terrace with the hopes of seeing wildlife but didn't see even a single wallaby. The staff was pleasant, the restaurant OK but if I could re-do my trip to KI... More

After hours of driving in the heat and exploring the Australian outback, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the lodge. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean without any uninvited guests, except for the cute wallabies which bounded up to our terrace to investigate. :-) The restaurant serves excellent food and is a bit gourmet in style. Totally... More

I never expected a 5 star resort to begin with, but this place is in need of a good freshen up and some exterior maintenance. Although the location is excellent and in a short distance from Flinders Chase Nationa Park, the general upkeep of the garden area and asthetic appeal of buildings is stuck back in the 1980's. The room... More

An excellent place to stay as is very close to the national park. If you are staying 1/2 nights on Kangaroo Island, then it is better to have a place to stay at this end of the island to save having to travel 70 miles or so back to accommodation in the evening if you are booked in near the... The hotel is situated at the far end of Kangaroo Island some 150km from the ferry in Penneshaw. If you are going to stay at the resort for several days, don't forget to buy whatever you may need during that period in the supermarket in Kingscote, because there are no shops of any kind on the rest of the island!... It was 45 degrees when we arrived for our stay. The air conditioning in our apartment in the Eco Lodge was highly efficient and had cooled down the place in no time. Cold drinking water awaited us in the kitchen fridge. Little touches like that mean a lot sometimes and were very much appreciated. We saw wallabies & a large... More
