Overall I was disappointed in my stay at KI Wilderness Retreat. The hotel is looking shabby and worn and overall not worth the price paid. We booked a room with a terrace with the hopes of seeing wildlife but didn't see even a single wallaby. The staff was pleasant, the restaurant OK but if I could re-do my trip to KI... More

After hours of driving in the heat and exploring the Australian outback, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the lodge. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean without any uninvited guests, except for the cute wallabies which bounded up to our terrace to investigate. :-) The restaurant serves excellent food and is a bit gourmet in style. Totally... More

I never expected a 5 star resort to begin with, but this place is in need of a good freshen up and some exterior maintenance. Although the location is excellent and in a short distance from Flinders Chase Nationa Park, the general upkeep of the garden area and asthetic appeal of buildings is stuck back in the 1980's. The room... More

An excellent place to stay as is very close to the national park. If you are staying 1/2 nights on Kangaroo Island, then it is better to have a place to stay at this end of the island to save having to travel 70 miles or so back to accommodation in the evening if you are booked in near the... The hotel is situated at the far end of Kangaroo Island some 150km from the ferry in Penneshaw. If you are going to stay at the resort for several days, don't forget to buy whatever you may need during that period in the supermarket in Kingscote, because there are no shops of any kind on the rest of the island!... It was 45 degrees when we arrived for our stay. The air conditioning in our apartment in the Eco Lodge was highly efficient and had cooled down the place in no time. Cold drinking water awaited us in the kitchen fridge. Little touches like that mean a lot sometimes and were very much appreciated. We saw wallabies & a large... More

The hotel is located just outside Flinders Chase NP and is certainly in the wilderness. Rooms were very comfortable, and service good. The friendly local Wallabies made your day. Needs a swimming pool, but you can't have everything! The restaurant was excellent.

The only hotel the west end wilderness area has to offer apart from the expensive exclusive Southern Ocean Lodge - so feels like the owners don't have to try! Good layout with little cabin-style rooms each with individual decks overlooking a central courtyard of shrubs, Sadly however they are dark depressing and desperately in need of refurbishment. Smelly dirty old... More

Nice little hotel five minutes drive from the border of Flinders Chase national park. We had an excellent dinner at the restaurant and walked the 2.5km blue trail twice, just before sunset and right after sunrise, and saw an echidna, a couple of wallabies and several kangaroos.

the good point is the close location to the flinders chase national park and driving in the dark on the roads near there is dangerous because of wildlife I agree with the previous writhers that this place has lost its soul we stayed in 2 courtyard rooms and 1 room had a new flatscreen tv and mine had a old...
