This is a lovely tranquil place to stay in the country of Pais Vasco in northern Spain. You will need a car to get here and yes, the road is very windy but scenic. It feels like it is the middle of nowhere but its in a perfect position for visiting Bilbao and San Sebastian. It was very quiet which... More

This is a lovely & sophisticated hotel. Difficult to find [ GPS problems] but worth the trip. Fantastic room & communal spaces [ we had front facing suite - enormous ]. Staff helpful , beautiful surroundings , fantastic breakfasts & restaurant great although we had difficulty relating to the late hours spanish eating times . Closest town Tolosa is worth... More

We travel down to Southern Spain every year by car and have stayed in a number of different hotels en-route and this is without doubt the best and will become a regular feature of our annual trip. My wife and I loved to see buildings that have been sympathetically restored, preserving their character but with a modern twist and Iriarte... More

Perched on a hill above a sleepy village, this restored 17th century home is the ideal luxurious base from which to explore the Basque Country. The staff were the perfect mix of professional and welcoming and were always available for advice or just a chat. Rooms were to the standard you would expect, ours was on the 2nd floor with... More

I stayed here while seeing Basque Country on a week-long walking tour with VBT. In a trip of terrific hotels and outstanding meals, the two days spent here stood out. The hotel was once the family home and has been transformed into a modern, comfortable, quiet sanctuary. The owners and operators, a lovely young couple, have done a terrific job... More

Idyllic location, incredible staff, unforgettable food. Iban, the Manager, is incomparably brilliant at delivering fantastic setting/ambiance/food/professionalism. I had my wedding here last week and can't being to explain how easy he made everything and the level to which he and his staff delivered. Unforgettable memories, couldn't have improved a single thing.

Highly recommend you spend a couple of nights here if you want fresh air, lovely rooms and a fantastic restaurant. If you are a hill walker then this will be perfect for you. Rooms are decent size, very modern, it was a palace in the 17th century,so you have a combination of modern living with history. Friendly staff and dog... More

A fantastic place to visit - lovely drive into the countryside which resembles Alpine meadows. The hotel is a lovely old place and a good mix of traditional and modern the bedrooms are large with sitting areas and super bed and bathroom with lovely views of the sunset over the hills. The restaurant is first class with modern a Mediterranean... More

We enjoyed our 3 day stay at this lovely place. It is a beautiful stately house, with comfortable rooms. Outstanding restaurant - Bailara - and great service. Wonderful mountain scenery - fresh air - great walks - as isolated as u would want it yet in easy reach of the coast and of San Sebastián.
