We spend 1 night in a double room. The room was clean, bed was comfortable. New/renovated hotel. Everything was very nice. The rooms have one disadvantage, the bathroom has a glass door (you cannot see inside obviously, but it does not make for a very private bathroom either). After a busy and excellent visit to Quatre Bras & Waterloo, the neat, quiet town of Herent, the modern, compact Hotel Carpinus & the nearbye friendly Brasserie (recommended by the hotel manager as we wanted to eat out locally, not in Leuven) proved the right choices for us to finish this memorable day. Location was the main reason we stayed here, it is also a 5min walk to the train and bus stop. Our room was spacious and clean, however the toilet paper which we ran out of at 6am (no spare roll) was not replaced by the cleaning staff. Lucky for the box of tissues that we had bought earlier. These comments are about the restaurant only, not about the hotel. We had a very good meal here, and were served quickly and friendly on the beautiful terrace. Prices are ok, except for the wines. Even the housewine is - even for Belgian standards and especially considering the location of the restaurant- unreasonably expensive with EUR16 for 1/2 liter. Result:... More
