This beautiful old house was an old fishing lodge owned by the Duke of Bedford and was known as his cottage ornée...hardly a cottage with its 100 or so acres, a 9 mile stretch of the Devon's great River Tamar on the borders of Dartmoor and 16 exquisitely converted suites. My wife and I had a three day tryst there... More

Just had an amazing afternoon tea. Was astonished at some of the poor reviews this has had recently. Nothing could be faulted. A really superb time we will definately be returning. We really liked the serve yourself buffet as it was more relaxed.

We just love the Endsleigh hotel. It is all you can wish for in the English countryside. Lovely setting, beautiful flower garden, sunny terrace just perfect for a splendid afternoon tea. Never been served such delicious sandwiches, not to forget to mention the excellent scones. Breakfast is Very English and opulent. We liked also our room with the old-fashioned bathroom.... More

What a fabulous experience. I say experience, because it was. No being processed as in the big flashy hotels. Greeted by name. Service beyond compare. (Endsleigh you must keep Christoff he is so professional, yet friendly). I really cannot fault The Endsleigh. I felt I was visiting a well heeled family for a weekend in the country, rather than being... More

What a shame to have to write this. On a recent visit to Endsleigh we couldn't have been more excited to return, and the hotel and grounds were as beautiful as ever. The reception staff gave us a warm welcome but sadly during our visits to the restaurant each night the maitre d' appeared frustrated and annoyed for no apparent... More

We stayed here for two nights. Our room was very spacious and had a wonderful view over the valley. The walks around the hotel were interesting too, even in November. But the staff were quite cold except for a nice bell boy/porter. There were a couple of fires lit at night - one in the hall and one in a... More

Hotel Endsleigh is about 15 mins from Tavistock by car and surrounded by wonderful gardens (I strongly recommend a walk). The location is very quiet and the ideal place to relax. Our rooms (9, 11, 12) were very nice, spacious with comfortable beds, a big wardrobe and chest of drawers, TV and a lovely bathrooms. Wifi is available, but a... More

I returned to this hotel after holding my wedding reception here 27 years ago and the best parts from all those years ago remain unspoilt. The service was excellent as was the food. Although extensive refurbishment has taken, place the original warmth and charm remains. With stunning views over the River Tamar and glorious gardens to explore, including the wonderful... More

This hotel, owned and managed by the Polizzi family is a little gem. We had stayed at Gidleigh Park a few times and initially only swopped to this location as Gidleigh was closed for renovations.....BUT, when we chose to return to Devon again, Hotel Endsleigh (just) got the nod. Everything from the setting, the gardens, the accomodation, the service to... More
