We stayed in the village in one of the cottages nearby for a week, so cannot comment on the accommodation. The pub is deceptive from the outside but as soon as we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, yes a few dogs there but all well behaved and certainly not a nuisance. We arrived on fish & chip night and... More

A wonderful, traditional country pub serving great, simple home-cooked food! Although we didn't stay overnight, we will next time! What a super place.... Animal galore and all so well kept. I wanted to take the miniature donkey home with me. We spent a delightful time in the garden - stunning views - and stayed far longer than we had intended!... More

We chose this B+B for just one night because we wanted to take our dog with us. We arrived and were offered and had a very good generous meal even though it was after kitchen closing time. Our room was a little separate outbuilding that was very comfortable with all usual mod cons. The gardens are spectacular and there were... More

The rain was tipping it down outside as we dashed into The Royal Oak today. We were met with a warm smile from the hostess (by reading other reviews, I presume this was Judy.) "Would you like the heating on?" she asked, as it was decidedly chilly for June. What a lovely welcome. We ordered coffee and then when my... More

Following a walk in the nearby beautiful Teign valley, we called in at the Royal Oak for lunch. The exterior of the building was being painted (old AA sign hanging outside), and is in a lovely setting by the church. Okay, so it's not a gastro pub, but that's not what we want most of the time and the interior,... More

This is what a pub should be like! We stayed at the Royal Oak whilst attending a friend's wedding in the village. Firstly, the location is stunning. Dunsford as a whole is a pretty, traditional village with a cafe, church, Post Office and the pub. The pub itself has brilliant views from the top of the beer garden out over... More

The Royal Oak like many village pubs is pretty quiet in the day, but you can be sure of a warm welcome and good menu choice if you choose to visit. It is. Family friendly pub and pet friendly. So if you are not a cat or dog lover it may not be the place for you. Mark the landlord prepares... More

On entering there is a horrible smell. After weaving my way to the bar past the many dogs lying all over the floor, I could see where the smell came from. The whole place is very scruffy and is need of a facelift. The beer was flat and overpriced. I did not have a meal as hygiene did not seem... More

As owners of two lodges at nearby Clifford Bridge we always look forward to our visits there and one of the reasons is so we can visit the Royal Oak and be welcomed like locals. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly, our dogs love it and cannot wait to see Judy who immediately hands out the chews. The food... More
