These beautiful grounds made for a wonderful backdrop for wine-tasting. The Viognier and Reserve Chardonnay were quite outstanding. The staff are very knowledgeable so gained more insights into New Zealand wines.

Lovely setting for a sunny lunchtime meal in February 2013.The meal was enjoyed by all 4 of us and the service was very good. Seated outside under the grapevines was magical. We would certainly return to the Black Barn restaurant .

Stayed with 3 other couples. This is our 3rd stay in Number 4 and it is still a great place to stay. The outside fire, large well structured kitchen and 4 large bedrooms make it work perfectly for 4 couples. We were very disappointed by a number of things - cockroach invasion, lights not working, BBQ that needed fixing, pool... More

We stayed at Poplars 2! OMG! That's all I have to say. Peaceful, great views, comfortable beds, great entertaining areas, privacy, a short drive to wineries and civilisation. Only for there was so much to do in the area, we would never have left the house. The best place that we have stayed in EVER.

As soon as we arrived at Black Barn, we asked ourselves two questions: 1. Why didn't we come here sooner? 2. Why aren't we staying longer? Black Barn was recommended to us by a friend in Australia and he was certainly right! The barn is spacious, well furnished and you open the french doors to a terrace and vines. The... More

This is the best place I have stayed at. The design is fantastic with one bed room at each end of an an expansive "house." The house has a laundry - a sunroom , dinning room , two out side areas , BBQ area , pool house with a fire place , heated pool and the best layer out and... More

The cottage is very old but clean and with everything we needed. Two bedrooms, comfy bed, lounge with fireplace, kitchen, dining room, BBQ. The shower looks old fashioned but has great water pressure and there are loads of towels. There is a separate outbuilding across the yard with laundry facilities and bicycles. There is a small garden and views over... More

Great lunch location with not over-attentive waitron. Food excellant and imaginative - not cheap but worth it. Only complaint soft cheese ordered for dessert wasn't and had obviously just come out of fridge. On checkout maitre d' appologised and thanked for comment but the amount off the bill would have left a better impression !

Enjoyed Friday lunch here after a good cellar door tasting experience. The smoked fish and spinach cigars for entree were the favourites of the whole meal. Other dishes nice too. Staff were attentive but unobtrusive. Overlooks vinescape.

We absolutely loved our stay in this stunning little property. This was a special night away for my parents and with my partner as part of the FAWC weekend celebrations - we would choose an event again at this location just to stay here again. The beds were to die for...like lying in a cloud, spacious rooms, everything you could... More
