We were on a "genealogy tour" and wanted a B&B in the center of one of our search areas. Alf & Connie were very welcoming and helpful in our research. The Lodge setting is wonderfully landscaped with a great view. The rooms are immaculate, warm and very comfortable. The wifi was necessary for our research and much appreciated. Breakfast was... I spent 2 delightful nights with Connie and Alf last weekend. They are delightful hosts and I truly felt at home. Breakfast exceeded my expectations, my room was lovely (I chose the River Room), and all guest spaces were perfect. They have done an amazing job restoring the lodge. It is very large, and yet maintains a cozy, classic charm.... More

I don't even know where to start ,this Bed and Breakfast is set in a cul-de-sac on a very quiet lane in Middle Musquodoboit I have so many wonderful things to say about this beautiful serene piece of the world. The room was absolutely beautiful and so clean I checked every nook and cranny to see if I could find... More

This B&B totally exceeded all our expectations. Connie and Alf are gracious and helpful hosts and made our visit most enjoyable. The home is located in a quiet setting along a beautiful section of river valley, and there are some nice hiking trails on the property and nearby. Our room was very large, clean, and comfortable and adjoined a nice... More

This place is well worth a visit, even if just to admire the restoration of the lodge, originally dating back to the 1860's. Extremely quiet location (last property on a dead end road) with a beautiful river winding past it's doors. The hosts went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. Very friendly and accommodating. Tasty breakfasts served... More

My husband and I were making a return trip along the Eastern Shore toward Halifax from Charlos Cove and stayed one night (Sept 1, 2014) at the Old Riverside Lodge. This heritage home was truly exceptional in terms of decor, updates, ambience, breakfast quality, and the riverside setting on which it is located. Alfred and Connie Ellis were wonderfully warm... My husband and I stayed for 3 memorable nights in the sumptuous River Room of Connie and Alf's perfectly lovely Bed & Breakfast. The B&B is not advertised as a spot for birders to stay, but the beautiful grounds abounded with warblers and both Osprey and Bald Eagle were easy to spot along the river past the garden. From the... Alf and Connie were great host. Our stay felt like we were going to a friends house. This is what a B&B should feel like. The house ans rooms were beautiful and welcoming. The property is so nice to walk through and special added touches everywhere. They suggested great places to eat and visit. They knew the area so well.... More

I wish we could clone Connie and Al and their B&B, but I guess that would make it less special. They were wonderfully friendly, talkative, interesting and accomodating. The house, rooms and yard are beautiful, almost surreal. If you are considering it do youself a favour and book here now for as long as you can. I don't understand the... More

The eastern shore to Halifax is a hidden gem in Nova Scotia, but is dwarfed by the popularity of the south shore which includes, Peggy's Cove, Mahome Bay, Lunenburg, etc. After exploring the scenic and peaceful eastern shore, I recommend stopping for awhile at the Old Riverside Lodge in Musquodoboit Harbor, east of Halifax. Connie and Alf will be there... More
