We stayed one night in the loft room, which is very romantic and spacious. Large and comfortable kingsize bed, the open plan room also includes lounge chairs, kitchenette with fridge, kettle, microwave, dinner service, glasses etc but no oven or hob. Good location near the Meville neighborhood stretch of restaurants and bars. We felt very safe here. There was a lovely courtyard and the loft room is worth the extra money.

We stayed at the Turret for 4 nights in the loft room. The room itself was lovely, clean, matched the online photos etc. The location was also good, in that restaurants are near by and we felt quite safe walking to dinner each night. Convenient guest house in Johannesburg (Melville); walking distance (2 blocks) from 7th Street. Clean, cozy room and bathroom. Delicious breakfast. Internet available.

We stayed here in December 2009 for 2 nights, and wished we could have stayed longer. We booked the Loft room, which is absolutely beautiful - oddly the best views are from the bath! The staff were so friendly and helpful, and it's in an ideal position for walking out to restaurants in the evening. Thoroughly recommend it.

We chose to stay in Melville when in Joburg, and are glad we did - as others have noted it's quite walkable, has a good street of restaurants and bars to choose from, and has more soul than the other suburbs we visited.
